unless he gets rocked and rocked quickly, Maddux's 2006 option vests this game. (i think he needs to get 5 outs)

Not coincidentally, Maddux will also be the first Cubs pitcher to pitch 400 innings in 2004-5.

Z will presumably get there next start ... unless he were to get rocked and rocked quickly. (I think Z needs to get 7 outs)

Last time the Cubs will ever play in Busch... let's make it a memorable one!

Unless we face them later in the year

how mad will everyone be if murton doesn't start?

i wonder if hendry really cares at all. If he did, dusty wouldn't be there. now, he's understanding what happened with magowan and sabean.

Personally, I just laugh, and then fall deeper into despair.

I'll be pretty pissed. Hairston should be in CF and lead off. Cedeno in short.

Same thing goes for tomorrow vs lowry. Will they get back to back starts?

I hate giving up Patterson's defense in CF. I'd rather have Murton lead off.

why on earth is this a night game?

I've never seen a team make a trip to the west coast without a day off before or after the trip (or both).

the schedule makers in their infinite wisdom give the Cubs 4 cities in nine days, with a trip to SF tossed in there, to begin a 17 game stretch without an offday. the least they could do was make this a day game for travel.

Could it have anything to do with gaining two hours when they get west? While it does not make it any better perhaps that had something to do with their reasoning behind this.

Isnt this the home teams decision on when the start of game is?

no, the league makes the schedule including start times and they make small adjustments along the way. times often change for national broadcasts too, but I think the league has veto power.

you may be thinking about the home team has the decision of whether or not to start a game if there is rain.

the time difference doesn't change the fact that the Cubs will get to their hotel at about 3 a.m. SF time.

Actually, the home team can set the start time themselves. Most teams do play day games on getaway day, even if its getaway day for the visiting team.

The Cardinal brass, being the a-holes they are, never play a day game on getaway day when the Cubs are there unless St. Louis is leaving town too.

I think the leagues have some rules for when teams have to play day or night games and it depends on how far the home team city is from the away team city. At least that's how Andy Mcphale made it sound at the cubs convention before when he said that houston is for some reason in the zone where they can decide when to play the games when the cubs are in town and they always screw the cubs over with night games on getaway days.

Does anyone know how many starts Maddux has left? Hopefully he'll get to 15 wins for the 18th consecutive season.

5, I think. I'm off to the game. Have fun everyone!

I will. This will be the first game I'll get to watch on Comcast since our cable company finally decided to give it to us after telling us we got for over a year when we didn't get it.
