It appears Albert Pujols is being bothered by the same foot ailment that troubled him last season.

The same foot pain that led first baseman Albert Pujols to receive ultrasound therapy twice last winter has resurfaced, causing La Russa to suggest that Pujols may get several games off later this month to undergo additional treatment.

While the Cardinals playoff spot is a given, they really need to get this taken care of. It seems as if it could be a recurring problem for Pujols.

He should get surgery in the off-season. I know he declined it last year and got ultrasound treatments. Once the season is over, he should do it.

So if Pujols goes on the DL, and the Cards still make the playoffs, maybe then the writers will see that they didn't need him all along and Lee can come home with the MVP. :D

I know, why are we paying Pujols all this money since we don't even really need him. Seems like a big waste to me.

I'm surprised how well the ultrasonic treatment worked. Last season he apparently played through great pain on a daily basis. This is the first I've heard of the foot condition since before spring training. If the the ultrasonic treatment works this well, and only takes him out of the lineup for 4 or 5 games when he gets it, why risk surgery? Depends on his prognosis I guess. If the condition will only deteriorate then surgery will probably be inevitable.

I personally think they should just amputate the foot.

(i'm joking of course)

Without a foot I think his power numbers would decline, but he'd probably still hit for high average. OBP would probably take a big hit though, not enough walks. Badoom boom.
