hill k's two in an odd one inning of relief. wonder what the deal is w/ hill coming out of the pen...

 

does this mean sergio's starting in rusch's spot? if so, wouldn't they want to stretch him out more? maybe mitre got hurt and hill was available in the pen because they know he's coming up tomorrow. what a mysterious situation...wish i would have listened to the game. :x

knowing the stupid cobs, they did that so they would both be ready to go from the pen ASAP :x. I'd rather have Mitre start and Hill be a bullpen guy, but ideally Williams and rusch would both go to the pen and Mitre and Hill would start from here on out....

Carolina (who has clinched the other North Division playoff spot) has had their final series of the season (at Mississippi) cancelled because of the hurricane. The Djaxx therefore control their own destiny with respect to winning both halves of the season and getting the extra home playoff game.

I didn't either, but it was mentioned on the local news tonight. They're currently playing in Jacksonville; their game last night was suspended due to rain, and they have one more game scheduled in Jacksonville today. After that they're done until the playoffs.

 

Also, they'll be less than full strength for the playoffs. Their best player (Jeremy Hermida) was called up by the Marlins yesterday.
