Cubs better win so I can start the thread for the Sandberg game.

Maddux probably has 6 games to get 5 more wins for 15 on the season.

Well, one way or another I will enjoy this game.

I'm sitting in the bleachers (thank you lloyd!).

So either, I'll be filled to the gills with Old Style and the cubs will lose --- good times :D or I'll be filled to the gills with Old Style and the cubs will win --- even gooder times ;)

Go Cubs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who wants a 3:45 wake up call from me??? I gotta get up extra early to make it to the airport on time.

Yay! Joe Buck and Tim McCarver time!

Buck is in Washington tonight doing the Redskins/Steelers preseason game. Also, last week's Fox Saturday game had McCarver and I want to say tHom Brennaman.

Whether or not that's an improvement is anyone's guess.

I guess the streak stops at 17....

it would be bookended by two mediocre Cubs teams. :(

Well, we now have McClain and Cedeno on the roster, but we're playing a lefty, so I'm sure Perez will somehow end up at 2B again.
Posted
OK. Now that I see we traded Lawton, who the %$#@! is going to lead-off?

Well, let's see. McClain is a 3B, so he'll sit on the bench, leaving either Nomar or Macias to play. My guess is Macias will get the start at 3rd and leadoff (because Dude is a switch hitter and will matchup against that lefty Willis Dude!)

Lineups:

2 Jeff Conine, LF Todd Walker, 2B

Walker in the lineup? But, dude, lefties can't lefties.

No, he didn't feel obligated to play Ronny today since it isn't his first day back anymore, so Neifi can go back to Short.

Posted
So, Hendry pretty much lets the fans know that he's packing it in this year by trading away Lawton, but Neifi is still starting over Cedeno? What's the point?

The point is that Neifi is appearing in his 123rd game this year, but Dusty needs to see him some more to know how he fits into next year's team. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

you can't start young 'uns during the early part of the season b/c you're still in it. you can't start young uns during a playoff race b/c they don't have the experience and you can't start them after you're out of the race b/c the guys that have busted their butts to put you out of contention deserve playing time.
