I would think the fans would be going off the entire bottom of the 9th

They're not even booing Corey

Sadly, I know if I were there, I'd be booing heartily.

I was there last night and it just felt like we were all too tired of pouring emotions into this team and this season. Without any expectations left -- and how can anyone have any expectations left for this pile of crap team -- there is little energy or need for booing anymore.

Apathetic silence likely rings louder in the ears now anyway -- they've obviously gone numb to the booing.

These Cubs are no longer loveable losers -- they are just losers.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Man this is horrible, the Reds will be ahead of us in no time.

heck, soon the Pirates will be ahead of us...

so, who's coming with me to Houston to beg Cuban to buy the Trib, and hence forth the Cubs?

guess it's safe to shut Wood down now, should've never brought him back up in the first place.

and start sitting lee and ramirez on a regular basis, no need to risk them for next year either. hell, add prior to that list as well.

what a horrible display, 5th place by Sunday

Reality starting to really sink in. I cant believe with that payroll we can be so bad. Bad GM moves, terrible managing, and underperforming players. And then they complain when we boo them HAHAHA.

Boy am I glad I'm taking the train to Denver to watch this trainwreck play.

I know I will be booing a tone. Or just chanting boourns! Boourns!

The Cubs have now recorded 3 separate losing streaks of 7 games or more this season. Draw your own conclusions. I've drawn mine.

I've drawn mine too, but unfortunately we will get to hear how it's injuries and unsupportive fans who are to blame.

The more ridiculous this gets, however, the more likely that Baker AND Hendry are gone.

There were very real rumblings from the Trib Tower mid season when things were going bad. By and large, Baker and Hendry got healthy within a couple games of the WC race and have since plummetted.

The suits aren't going to be happy with the bottom line at all. The Cubs have regressed while the payroll has increased and Baker and Hendry have gotten about everything they wanted. It is beginning to be a glaring embarrassment for the corporation.

I can't believe that Hendry is on completely solid footing.

Tomorrow's lineup:

1. Lawton LF

2. Neifi SS (can't play Nomar 3 in a row)

3. Lee 1B

4. Burnitz RF

5. Walker 2B

6. Macias 3B (he's hitting almost .300!)

7. Barret C

8. Patterson CF

we might score 2 runs, solo home runs by Walker and Barret.

i agree, but this could also make the suits think whats the point of spending money. i hope to god they do not begin to go back to the ways of the mid 90s. lets just hope 2003 actually means something to them.

I tend to think there's a bigger rift between Hendry and Baker than is widely believed. I would wager money that, if this continues for about 3-4 more games, Baker would be gone, and the payroll slashed to about $75-85m for 2006, with Hendry given a stern "last chance" mandate.

Definitely use Lee as trade bait. He'll be at his highest value this offseason, and with a weak free agent clas....

But does MacPhail have the nads to fire Hendry? Remember, as bad as it was with Lynch, it was Lynch who resigned... twice.

Why would we trade Ramirez? Seriously, that makes no sense. ARod and Ensberg are the only guys who have produced more offensively at the 3B position. Trading him makes no sense.

Yeah, Hendry is no angel. He didnt make this team better this off-season, he made it worse. Really have you ever seen a more pathetic OF than ours? I'm pretty convinced that the entore coaching staff has to go. Our starting pitching isnt that good anymore. Even Prior and Z are giving it up. Our bench is terrible. Our RP is mediocre at best, and our offense slumps 6/7 days a week. Baker has to go immediately and take his staff with him. Hendry picked the wrong off-season to wait to make moves. Aside from Giles there is NOTHING available out there (aside from trades) that can improve our OF. This is so frustrating, that it's to the point where it just isn't fair for us anymore. We deserve much better.

Dodgers are in the same boat. Meanwhile, teams like the Twins, Indians, A's, Brewers, Marlins, Phillies, etc. all have better records than this worthless pile of crap team.

I'll take that cyberspace bet. If there's a rift, all Hendry would have to do is fire Baker or get rid of some of the players that they disagree over. Funny thing is, after Alou, Mercker and Farnsworth and moving Clines to hitting coach were let go during the offseason there were plenty of people saying that this was an example of Hendry taking control of the team. Some control.

that's why i said for the right deal. if i could send wood, lee, and ramirez to texas and get back teixeira, soriano, blalock, and mench of course i would do it. i don't think texas would though.

Dusty is not likely to see Sept. I can see Dusty being fired, Spier becoming the interim manager, and every kid we have all been begging to see get called up for September. Call em' the Chicago D Jaxx.

Only call them up after they win the Southern League Championship!

Chicago Diamond Jaxx, that has a nice ring to it.
