What are the odds that Burnitz is moved in a waiver deal before August 31st?

I dont know what the chances are, but I personally believe that Hendry may be fighting for his job as well, so for him to go young and just give up may not send the best message to ownership. Again, I may be wrong, but just my $.02.

Why would any real playoff contender want Burnitz? Most of us didn't want him last spring.

Bunt hit for Patterson. Now Henry "Hank" Blanco up. I like Blanco.

The legs a tad further apart and the hands higher were things that Keller mentioned previously in an article. Looks like he did indeed change those things.

I'm disappointed that Burnitz is turning into exactly the player I expected the Cubs were getting. I was content in being wrong when he was playing very well.

I think the whole team is nearing implosion. It's Murphy's law out there.

I dont' know if its Murphy's Law as much as simply the Law of Averages. Players are returning to their career norms. The level that some were playing above those norms, such as Neifi and Burnitz along with Lee, to an extent, have caused this exaggerated drop.

So I suppose that eventually they will start playing flawless defense for a while? That has been a big part of their losing streak, and it is definitely not explained by the law of averages. They aren't a great fielding team, but they are way better than this.

My disappointment in Burnitz is directed at his rather poor effort at the plate rather than his fielding error. Poor fielding alone isn't the cause of this streak. Rather efforts like Burnitz 5 for his last 40 something at the plate has more to do with it.

I think it's more than that. Burnitz has actually been underacheiving this year by his standards. And Lee and Ramirez have been really bad the last week or so, far worse than their carrer norms. Plus it's all happening at once.

left handed power bat off the bench...Boston, White Sox, St Louis and Houston all could use him....i'm not saying we'd get anything useful for him, but clearing the spot in RF would be worth the trade...

Lee's at-bat killed us. In all of our losses, all you have to do is look at the 3-6 hitters to see why we don't score runs.

I wonder if his shoulder is right. But, then again, his strike zone is entirely different right now than when he was locked in. Remembering how he stopped hitting late last year, could his early (though extended) surge brought on an earlier season downfall?

His strike zone may have changed because he is compensating for the injury. And he is surely pressing. I'd like to see him get a couple days off and see what he looks like afterwards.

I believe everyone should be accountable for this mess. And it's ridiculous for Lee in one breath to say they have to win games while he can't see he's hurting the offense if he is indeed hurt. I'm beginning to think that's not the case since he said something prior to the All-Star break and sat. Why wouldn't he sit now? Also, I know we have our favorites on here, but it's not like Lee is a career .340 hitter. Maybe, like Perez, he's just getting back to his normal stats.

Except that his career stats aren't as bad as he has been playing. And he, like Aramis, are probaly playing though injury because the team thinks they are still in it and know if they are going to get offense, it will probably be from those two. Straits were not as dire before the ASG.

No his stats aren't as bad as he's been playing, but that's why they're averages. If he finishes along his career lines, because of his torrid start, he'd have to put up bad numbers. If he is hurt, his eyes are hurt, too, because he's swinging at crap pitches he wasn't swinging at earlier this year nor last year.

Cubs lead!!! Cubs lead!!! Too bad, we're not in the fifth or I'd call for rain.
