Any chance we could return the insults to the actual title of the game threads...that seemed to work better that what we're currently trying.

"We're trying to get to the playoffs, so we're going to play whoever I think the best lineup is against that particular guy," he said.

Translation: "We're trying to win, and all rookies suck. Therefore, I can't play them."

I think it's funny that the "Not hot" Lee has better numbers in that selection than the "hot" Macias.

It's not funny at all when you consider how they're producing with respect to their individual talent..... but, you knew that, no?

Fred are those stats fair considering you don't have an even number of ABs or the dates are the same?

Couldn't you just spot select dates that proved hot or not?

PLEASE!

This was in Wed's Trib....Sorry

Baker said left fielder Matt Murton would sit against Mets left-hander Tom Glavine on Friday, but will play Saturday against lefty Kazuhisa Ishii. Baker said he would try to get Murton at-bats, but he doesn't plan to platoon him with Matt Lawton, as he did with Todd Hollandsworth.

"We're trying to get to the playoffs, so we're going to play whoever I think the best lineup is against that particular guy," he said.

Yeah, but that was before Hairston was injured, so Baker was choosing b/n Murton and and Lawton. With Hairston down, both can play.

Does that mean Jose Macias helps them win more than Murton?

Well at least Dumbsty can't use Remmy against LH'ers any more. That's a good thing. I think our pen just got alot better.

Ohman

Wood

Williamson

Wuertz

Rusch

Dempster

Novoa

Not horrible like before.

What, still no lineup? How are we going to get in the obligatory pages of lineup and Dusty trashing if the lineup isn't posted well before the game starts?

Yes, although I haven't seen the lineup yet I don't like it and can't believe that Dusty can't come up with something better than that garbage. :D

Here's what Ryne Sandberg has to say about the Cubs series with the mets for his Yahoo Sports article.

Both teams are looking to break out and make a run at the NL wild card. They go into this weekend's three-game series five games behind wild-card leader Houston.

On Friday, the Cubs welcome the return of Kerry Wood, Nomar Garciaparra and Scott Williamson. While most teams are melting in the August heat, these three players have had long breaks and should be fresh and ready to go. This could be the boost the Cubs have been looking for all year.

In the series opener, the Cubs turn to rookie phenom Rich Hill, who has a Barry Zito-like curveball. Hill faces veteran lefty Tom Glavine, and if he can get past the verbal harassment from the Shea Stadium fans, he should settle down and do fine.

Who's hot: The Cubs bullpen. It allowed only one earned run over 9 1/3 innings this week against Philadelphia.

Who's not: Jeromy Burnitz. The Cubs right fielder is batting just .111 in his last nine games.

Prediction: The Cubs win two of three games.
