And they really love his sub-.600 OPS over the past two months. And how he leads the team in GIDP.

While I did enjoyed that, Neifi is not your everyday starter, no matter what.

 

Plus, sometimes a blind squirrel finds an apricot. Neifi just suck baows.

& he wasn't signed as an everday SS, some here tend to forget that. He is one of the best back-up SS's in the ML's

Yeah but at the same time, do you think Neifi wanted to GIDP? It just didnt workout. Walker came up with no outs and didn't advance the runners which left the DP a possibility. Had he advanced the runners we would have scored at least one.

I can understand that, but it's going to be like this, even if Dusty claims that he's going to play Neifi over Nomar, even though almost the majority of folks would agree that Nomar is the better player than Neifi, even at 80%.

 

80% Nomar > 100% Neifi.

Well he sucks. That's why we rip on him. He has a .283 OBP and has GIDP like 15 times already this year. He has no speed whatsoever.

 

I'm not gonna criticize him for being in the 2 hole so much earlier on, that's Dumbsty's fault. But he's not a starting SS. And the fact that Dusty thinks he is, makes me hate him more ( I know that isn't rational).

I just get tired of everyone ripping on Neifi. He's a backup SS -- he's not a bonafide SS like Nomar and isn't going to bat .320 with 30 homers and 120 rbis.

No one is "ripping on him" because theyre expecting .320 with 30 homers and 120 rbis, they're ripping on him because he is awful.

Let's face the facts here. Neifi was very good for about one and a half months. Since then, he has been simply abysmal. The numbers he has put up over the past two months have not been acceptable from any MLB player, even a backup. Two big hits do not make up for months of horrid production. A sub .600 OPS over a prolonged period is enough to get most guys released.

 

I understand Dusty has loyalty to Neifi for saving our butts in April and early May, but playing him everyday has long since passed the point of hurting the team. Cedeno could not possibly do any worse than Neifi has been. That isn't Neifi's fault, but the frustration of seeing him run out there day after day when he has been so very bad is going to spill over.
