I'd trade any or damn near all of the above for Dunn. I'm sure Murton's a nice guy and all but he's not a good corner outfielder on a team that plays in the NL Central with all of the small ballparks. He doesn't hit home runs. He doesn't steal bases. He doesn't possess a gun in LF. Notice that not one team has asked for Murton in a deal. He's not good. Colorado wanted Cedeno, but the Cubs didn't want Wilson's contract and weren't sure they were in the race at the time. My source on that is a Rockies beat writer who's a friends.

And you've seen Murton play how many times? To me, he looks like a doubles machine, DOES have good speed and has great control of the strike zone. But, I'm basing my opinion more on stats since I haven't actually seen him play other than his short stint with the Cubs.

Yes I saw the shadows, and I also saw him swing at 2 balls at his ankles and 1 ball 2 feet off the plate. Shadows or not, no way.

So, one at bat where the shadows obviously affect the vision of the hitter is enough for you to determine that Murton folds under pressure?

... I understand that shadows affect your vision, but it does not affect your vision to a point where you look like a blind man swinging a whiffle bat.

Yes it does, it affects depth perception and makes the ball appear strobe light like.

It was the first time I have seen Murton take a hack at a pitch but he was probably wanting to hit a 6 run homer too.

I know we had always considered Nomar last year but I don't remember there being a solid rumor before the deadline. Was there or was it simple speculation like this year?

Notice: it was the first time you've seen him swing like that, as have I. But the fact it was a pressure situation is what irks me. Everyone is on their feet. He RARELY swings at a first pitch without shadows. So shadows come and the 7-2 breaking ball looks like a fastball right down the shoot? Come on.

He's a rookie, cut him some slack.

I've seen a lot of great players in my day look like fools at the plate once that shadow crosses home plate.

And you have branded a guy who had one bat at bat while the shadows affected his view as a guy who completely folds under pressure. One at bat. Isn't that just a bit harsh?

As I said he was probably wanting to hit a 6 run homer in that situation. Hence the hack instead of sticking to his game plan. If he does that again in a bases loaded situation then we can start looking at his approach during pressure situations.

When the light conditions go bad and you cant read rotation, then sliders, changes, and tight curves can look like a fastball till it is to late.

If you're going down the stretch run of a playoff race, I don't want to endure the growing pains of a rookie. Sorry if that's just me.

Dusty is that you?

I do? Correct me if i'm wrong but I projected the guy as someone who has the potential to be about a .270 career hitter. I just do not wish to go through growing pains with the man in the middle of a playoff race.

I'll have to warn you not to turn the channel to TBS. Their playing great ever since they benched has beens like Brian Jordan and Raul Mondesi for the likes of Kelly Johnson, Ryan Langerhans and Jeff Francoeur.

That's exactly why I want us to dramatically upgrade in Left Field. If we don't get someone else, screw it, play Murton. We'd have no other choice, but that's been my whole point in this. I'm not vouching for playing time for Holly or Gerut, they're both god awful and yes Murton is better than both.

Ah screw it, i've seen the wrong in my ways.

Half way through that i started to realize i was becoming a gigantic hypocrite to make my argument correct. Sorry
