'Nomar was traded from the Red Sox to Chicago, along with current Cub and former Diamond Jaxx OF Matt Murton in a four-team trade on July 31, 2004'.

Looks like Nomar was just a throw-in on that deal!

Who are you quoting? Obviously, Nomar was the centerpiece.

I was just being facetious since Murton is doing so well and we have received practically nothing from Omar. Didn't Omar experience health problems before the Red Sox traded him? Would it be possible that we got damaged goods?

Omar Vizquel? Omar Minaya? Omar who?

Nomar was playing with a ginger achilles last year. This year, he blew out his groin. Neither of those injuries are related.

I don't consider Nomar damaged goods. Any player could blow a hamstring or groin muscle at any time. Because Nomar was playing hurt last year, we got him for a discount price this year and for a short term. If he comes back and can provide a boost to this offense, I'd be thrilled to have him back for another year next year.

well this year from all the players involved in the 3-way deal last year.

Methinks the headline was facetious. BTAIM, I was reading somehwere that Hendry wanted Murton as he was including 3 players from our minors and he wanted at least one top level prospect in return and held out for Murton. So it was not like Hendry did not know how good Murton was. This is the same problem I have with people who talk about Sandberg being a throw in the Bowa trade. If Green is to be believed, the trade would not have happened if Sandberg was'nt in it. Similar situation here. The Nomar trade would not have happened if Murton was not included.

What in the world does BTAIM stand for?

Thanks CPatt. You just saved me a severe brain cramp for the rest of the day. If the looming trade deadline wasn't enough......

I did not mean to use obscure acronyms; sorry about that.

BTW, The headline I had for the post was swallowed. It said that of all the players we traded for to get Nomar and Murton, only Murton is playng well.

That is all
