Thanks for mentioning that!

In addition, I have to make the deadline for the questions/comments to Jeff Parker and Ribbee tonight at midnight. I'm going to the park tomorrow earlier than expected and would like to have the questions/comments edited before going to the game.

Nomar's starting at SS for the Chiefs today!

So far he's helped turn a double play, drew a walk, and scored a run.

So is the walk the only time he's been up to the plate tonight?

Any word on how he was running?

Grant Johnson off to another strong start through 5, and Jesse Schmidt just made another fantastic diving catch and doubled another baserunner off (and got high-5s from Garciaparra and Johnson for the effort). Johnson just K'd his 7th, a new career high for him.

Chiefs with a new attendance record tonight: 9,602. It's Thirsty Thursday -- $1.50 draft beers -- so the concourses near the beer stands are so crowded no one can move.

ETA: Johnson with 8 Ks through 5 1/2. :)

Harvey has all 3 of the Chiefs hits (a double and two singles) ... Chiefs have also drawn 4 walks ... Harvey also steals second base in the 6th.

the 2nd walk was a gift. in my opinion. 3-2 pitch that was in for strike 3 but the home plate ump apparently didnt want 9600 booing him. even nomar froze at the plate....

he's done now...last AB hit one 373 feet...to left...too bad the wall is 375...LFer caught it with back to the wall....this crowd is great!!!!

ha ha, did the LFer put the ball in his back pocket after making the catch?

Thanks for the update!

Everyone in attendance wins a cup of Culvers custard! That's a lot of custard.

You can really hear the crowd roaring in the background of the broadcast ... it's cool.

Chiefs put up some runs as Douillard gets a 2-rbi double that just misses being a grand slam. A couple of seeing eye hits ... including a bad hop grounder that ended up hitting the shortstop in the face (he's apparently ok) ... and the smash from Douillard. Now a wild pitch that almost hits scores another run; Eric with his second walk of the day. 6-0 Chiefs.

Nathan, any observations on Nomar's running? I heard Oneri say yesterday during your broadcast that Nomar was happy with how he was breaking out of the box (and also impressed by Eric scoring on his single).

he running looked fine to me. He didnt do anything to really test it though. just went one base at a time. never really had a chance to go 1st to 3rd on a single, or score from 2nd. he did go 1st to 3rd on harveys double but that was easy.

he did score on a sac fly but again, wasnt any test, deep fly ball to center throw went to 2nd.

said in the post-game presser that he felt great today again.

Greenberg on a rehab with the Jaxx, making his first AB (in the 9th)

Ron gave much love to the people of Peoria and challenged Jaxx fans to show up if Nomar does in fact play for the Jaxx.

Greenberg flies out.

Sweet! Thanks.

Wonder where he'll end up playing next.

Hopefully in front of Ribbee

Jaxx with 19 hits tonight :jive:

Sing is 3-4 (all singles) tonight to put his average up over .300... not bad for a guy who strikes out all the time! :D

Meanwhile E-Patt is 0-3, but with 2 walks and 0 strikeouts. I'm more interested in the latter two stats than his hitting, which I think he has proved more than capable at that level. His walk rate, it seems to me, has declined a bit since the beginning of the year, and now stands at 42 in 84 games. That's solid but not spectacular for a guy who profiles as a leadoff hitter. Meanwhile, his strikeout rate was fairly close to one per game, but he's been making more contact recently and he now has 69 strikeouts in 84 games. I'd like to see him cut down on that rate, but I'm encouraged by the improvement in that area as of late.
