Fantasy deal, ala the 3-team deal for Nomar/Murton last year;

Cubs trade: Patterson, Mitre, Wellemeyer, good prospect(s) [not named Murton, Hill, or Pie], & (+Soriano-)

Cubs get:Manny Ramirez, at a reduced salary cost & the bullpen guys from TX and BOS

Rangers trade: Soriano, Dellucci, & a bullpenner

Rangers get: Patterson, Wellemeyer, prospect(s)

BoSox trade: Manny (but take on good part of his salary), bullpenner & prospects

BoSox get: Soriano, Mitre, Dellucci & Cub prospect(s)

I'm sorry, but that's not very realistic.

So who is getting what prospects from what teams?

I don't see how that helps the Rangers at all, unless the prospects are Felix Pie or Hanley Ramirez. They're giving up Soriano and Delluci plus a reliever and only getting Corey, Wellemeyer and some decent prospect? That's an awful deal from their perspective.

The last thing Boston is going to do is trade an arm from their bullpen and not get one in return. They're looking to add bullpen help, not subtract from it.

The Cubs are getting a ridiculously good deal and the Rangers are getting absolutely fleeced.

Don't get too excited guys, but this is what I dug up from a friend in New England. Since if I worded this professionally, it would probably get every excited and think there is something to this, I will post it in IM convo form:

UMfan83: u hear the manny rumor haha

XXXXXXX: lol im seeing it all over tv

UMfan83: really??

XXXXXXX: they had a breaking news thing about it on nesn

UMfan83: WHAT?

UMfan83: what was said

XXXXXXX: no, it was just them telling explaining what the possbilities are

XXXXXXX: mannys contract is so tough to trade with though

UMfan83: did they mention the cubs

UMfan83: because they were talking about it on the radio today

XXXXXXX: yeah, they didnt explain it as much as you have but yes

XXXXXXX: lucchino is apparently looking at all the possibilities

UMfan83: what did they say about the cubs, just that they are one of the teams that they might be able to trade him to?

XXXXXXX: the sox are trying to get matt lawton

XXXXXXX: yeah

UMfan83: i think cinci/cubs/red sox trade would be perfect for them

UMfan83: because the reds wont trade dunn in the division

UMfan83: so he goes to the sox

XXXXXXX: my friend whos in boston said the people are going nuts there about manny

UMfan83: so they think there is a chance if they find a deal they will trade him?

XXXXXXX: yup

XXXXXXX: because after the season the same thing will come up again

XXXXXXX: this came up so sudden though

Steve Stone is on PTI right now advocating trading for Manny Ramirez.

The kicker is that he's saying that they could/should throw in Aramis! He said we could trade Aramis, Corey and someone else to Boston for Manny and Bill Mueller.

I don't know about that one Steve.

I dunno if anyone heard this, but my dad said on his way home he was listening to The Score, and Bruce Levine () said the BoSox offered Manny to the Cubs for Hill, Pie, and Burnitz   and the Cubs countered with Burnitz, Patterson, and Guzman or something like that. I didn't hear it so I'm not sure, but did anyone else hear it?

I saw that too...I don't really see Aramis going to Boston for Manny..although who knows. As far as getting Soriano, he originally mentioned Patterson, and then later said TEX was asking for Hill and Pie...I wouldn't like either of those deals personally

Not much of an upgrade really. I rather send some players to Texas, so they'll give up Soriano to Boston. Makes LOTS of sense for Boston.

If I'm Hendry I'm not trading a 27 year old 3B who is just hitting his prime for a 33 year old LF when OFs are so much easier to get. Plus I have no problem with Murton in LF everyday

Was it ESPN 1000? Bruce Levine doesn't work for The Score.

i don't understand why the cubs would be interested in trading soriano to the mets for floyd, but not trading him to the red sox for manny. boston needs a second baseman. texas needs pitching. cubs need a LF. this makes too much sense.

I said it in the other thread: That statement is an example of why Stone would never, ever be hired as a GM.

Yeah it probably was. Again I didn't hear it, so I don't know what exactly was said and where it was.

This sucks, because I really would love a OF of Manny/Hairston/Burnitz. I'm starting to enjoy Burnitz out there. But it makes sense that they would want our only slightly above average OF if we were to get Manny. That is why I'm hoping for a 3 way trade with either the Reds, Rangers or even Mets that involves Cliff Floyd

Wait that makes total sense. Mets have wanted Soriano, the Red Sox need an OF to replace Manny with power, the Cubs want Manny, Rangers want pitching from Cubs (Mitre/Rusch + Patterson). Four way deal between the Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers, Mets???

Hmmmm... Maybe Millar to NY and Walker to Boston along w/ Floyd.

Cubs can put Hairston at 2b and Patterson in CF. Going to need better d in cf w/ Manny out there. :)

Depending on salary considerations and prospects, I might be interested in that deal the Cubs countered with.

Steve Stone on the Score just rementioned the ARam/Manny trade he proposed. Obviously there is nothing to it, he's just getting people to call in really

Even that first deal.... I could part with Hill for Manny, but not Pie. We have plenty of young arms in the minors, but very few good young bats.

Would boston eat some of the salary? I mean, assuming this actually happened, because it is Bruce Levine, after all.

I could do Hill, Patterson, and Burnitz. Move Murton to RF and have Manny, Hairston, and Murton left to right. Not too darn shabby.
