Can some one post the starting lineups for me. I cant seem to find them. TIA

1. Hairston, CF

2. Walker, 2B

3. Lee, 1B

4. Ramirez, 3B

5. Barrett, C

6. Burnitz, RF

7. Perez, SS

8. Murton, LF

9. Maddux, P

Right now it's raining hard. Just heard on the Score, the game may be delayed until 8- 8:30 pm or they may scrap it all together and have a Double Header tomorrow.

Gee, the score has a real grasp of the obvious.

I'm listening to WGN radio now and the Cubs are going to wait as long as they can to play (they dont want to play a double header tomorrow). I believe teams have the discretion to wait as long as they want before starting a game. The unmpires only have control once the lineup cards are exchanged.

I liked that remark someone made a few days ago about "the corpse of Ronny Cedeno" being part of the Cubs' bench. I think the "The Corpse" would be a cool and appropriate nickname for Ronny.

i guess there going to wait it out until 8:30-9. If there's no sign of the rain letting up, they'll call it and play 2 tomorrow.

This way I can catch the radio feed of Nomar in single A while waiting for the start...

Good plan, my man.

(Edit - didn't check gender, just went with the rhyme)

Is there anywhere online we can listen to the radio feed?

Wow, I love the sarcasm. The Score didn't report the rain just the delay. They were reporting it almost 3 hours ago. In other words, the team is willing to wait versus postponing the game.

Looks like rain in Peoria too, but the Chiefs look to be broadcasting from their site http://peoriachiefs.com.

Ramirez HAS to bat behind Lee everyday. With teams finally starting to pitch around Lee, who do you want coming up with (at least) one runner on... Burny or Aramis? It's a no brainer.

Yes but Dusty is OBSESSED with having the lineup RLRLRLR against Righty's. I bitched about this last week, no one seemed to agree, or they just didn't respond. But it irritates the hell out of me.

Dusty has his obsessions, and they have to be ripped out of his hands for him not to use them, be it players, or strategies.

I'm the biggest Dusty hater out there. Yet, I'm thrilled that he's finally seen the light regarding altermnating his lefty and righty hitters, especially against the National League's micromanagers (See, e.g. Larussa, Alou). Two nights in a row the Cubs have benefitted from the L-R-L-R lineup. Managers like Larussa and Alou can't help but habitually change pitchers in the 7th/8th innings to take advantage of purported lefty/righty platoon splits. In the process, they waste their relievers on one batter. As a result, the other manager runs out of quality relievers and the Cubs face Al Reyes and Jeff Fassero with the game on the line.

In contrast, last year Baker hit Patterson/Walker back-to-back (1-2) too many times. When they played the Cardinals, you could absolutely guarantee that the final two times through the Cub order, Patterson/Walker would see Ray King and Steve Kline.

Now, with the lefties spread the Cub lineup, LaRussa isn't able to so effectively utilize his lefty specialists.

As to Ramirez "protecting" Lee: If your fear is that teams will walk Lee with Burnitz hitting behind, you should not be scared. If Derrick Lee walks every single time he comes to the plate, the Cubs will score more runs than if teams pitch to him. That's a fact.

Unless they make it a day-night doubleheader, they would lose the 39,000 gate. Sorry, wasn't critcizing you, I just think the score is useless.

They can't make it a day-night doubleheader because that means they'd have to make it up as a night game. The Cubs have a preset number of night games per year.

Both teams have a day off on Monday so there may not be a DH tomorrow.

That will be the Cubs first off day in 18 days. If they play on the 1st they don't have another scheduled day off for 16 more days (I dont think they want to play 35 straight games).

I just hunted it down at Minor League Baseball. There was a front page telling me I could listen to Nomar.

Its nearly one in the morning now. I want at least one game.... don't wanna have to go watch Sox/Jays.

So it's more likely to be scheduled for a mutal off day later in the year?

C'mon, they have to play this one. No WAY is my wife letting me watch 6 hours of baseball tomorrow

Heh ... no WAY is my wife having ANY bearing on how I spend my time.

Like 'ol J.R. says ... a marriage is like a salad, the man has to know how to keep his tomatoes on top! :D

Huh? If it was rescheduled as the "night" part of a day night doubleheader, the Cubs would be replacing a night game (tonight) with a night game (the make-up). How would that affect the number of night games?

I thought all their night games were only Sunday-Tuesday?

I don't think there is any rule precluding Wednesday/Thursday night games, but, in any event, that's a different issue entirely.

So what do I do if the game is postponed till tomorrow? Do I start 2 new threads for Game 1 and Game 2? Or do I just do Game 1? Or does this thread become Game 1?

if i had to guess, it'd be like the DH we had against the Padres earlier this year. One game starting at 12:05 and the 2nd game following about 25 mins after the first game.

I figure this would do fine as Game 1, you can change the title to reflect the time change and change in starters(if any).

Stop with the negativity. There will be baseball tonight.

I hope. :D
