After last night's game. It wasn't so much demoting him as it was opening a spot for Brad Eldred (Remember that name!) and he still had an option left.

I suspect he'll be back before long. We only have one backup infielder now. He was a very good bench player for us, and I imagine he'll continue to be for a while.

In related news, Aramis Ramirez is hitting a lot of home runs for the Chicago Cubs.

Oh, that's evil but I was actually thinking about posting something similar... I thought better of it however.

I would happily trade Jose Macias to Pittsburgh for Bobby Hill.

I'm not sure which is crueler - This post, or reminding me how many HRs Aramis has hit (Which our local announcers do all of the time. I'm almost numb to it.).

At least no one offered to trade Macias for Eldred. Yet.

But hey, you guys got Matt Bruback and Ray Sadler from us as well!

Who??? :-)

Bruback didn't hang around very long. We dropped him from the 40 man roster and he was claimed - I forget who claimed him. Sadler is in AAA right now. He looks like he'll be a backup outfielder if he makes it.

I have Sadler's old Jaxx jersey. He was a fun player to watch to say the absolute least.

The most fun Jaxx player to watch that I've ever seen was Jaisen Randolph. I saw him catch a ball at the warning track at Smokies Park, turn around and throw a dart to home and get an out. It didn't bounce, it was a laser to home plate to catch Felipe Lopez. One of the best minor league plays I've ever seen. Where is Jaisen Randolph now?

I believe San Diego claimed him. I don't recall what's happened to him since then.

I've seen Eldred a couple of times this year in Indy and there is no questioning that he's going to hit a lot of home runs in the majors (the guy is 6'5" 270!). He's going to strike out a ton and that will be accepted as a trade-off for the power, but he'll need to draw more walks in the majors. Even without the patience, Eldred is going to be a big-time home run threat.

I saw Hill play today, kind of cool seeing someone who you had followed throughout his career with the Cubs only to see him a few years later in Triple-A. Anyway, Hill went 0-4 with 3 weak flyouts and a ground ball that he almost beat out (and probably would have beaten out had he slid to avoid the tag from the first baseman). At third base, Hill made a diving stab to his left but threw the ball away. The Indians lost 6-1.

Ray Sadler also played. He was 0-3 with a K, but showed great range in left field and gunned a guy out at the plate. He's got plus speed, a solid arm, good bat speed and some pop, but Sadler has yet to learn to control the strike-zone, which is keeping him from establishing himself as a potential starter.

I remember bemoaning losing him personally when he was taken (foolishly) by Pittsburgh. They'd already had acquired Freddy Sanchez and had Jose Castillo waiting in the wings, which seemed unnecessary.

Suffice to say, we took it to the Pirates there and it sucks that Bobby isn't doing well, but them's the baseball breaks..

i got to see him in st louis his rookie year, he really looked athletic in the field, he made a couple of really nice plays. Why isnt he playing 2B in the minors?
