So, how would everyone feel about taking another round of Kenny Lofton?

His numbers aren't bad this season. He's currently hitting 335 with a 398 OBP. I'm not sure if the Phillies are in a selling mood, but if they are, Lofton shouldn't be too terribly expensive.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

I think he'd be great, put him in CF and Hairston in LF, our OF defense would be solid and he'd be a good leadoff man who'd steal bases as long as he's healthy.

I wouldn't mind Lofton much, but Hendry has said that any trades he makes would be for someone that would not only help us out now, but in the future. Obviously, Lofton is 38 and we wouldn't keep him past this season, so I doubt JH pursues a trade for him.

Lofton's babip is high, but not insanely so. ld% is way way way up from last year though (15.8% vs 24.4%).

Pass.

THT just got bumped up the bookmark list. They should add career and/or splits though.

All this would accomplish is to move deck chairs around the Titanic.

The time for short-term fixes to this mess has passed. Any trade now has to be with 2006 and beyond in mind.

agreed. theres no reason to not go ahead and throw win shares on the pages too, though. and since they have 2004 babip, ld%, g/f, etc. numbers, they should put them on there too.

hopefully the current pages are just preliminary.

While I'm not certain whether I would want Lofton or not, wouldn't he be a cheaper and better bet than Juan Pierre?

If Jim Hendry and said he was about to trade for either Lofton or Pierre, and give up what the Phillies/Marlins each believed was fair market value for the player, and he asked me which deal to make, I'd go with Lofton.

His GMJ and LIR are quite high though, but I don't know about that average LDP

I am confused.

Are you upset because people are using sabermetrics that do a much better job of evaluating players then stats such as Avg, RBI, HR?

Or...what. I dont know.

I've been all over the Kenny Lofton bandwagon for a good part of this season. I'd love to see him in centerfield.

Then what was the point of that post?

oh I'm sorry forgot sarcasm wasn't allowed

It is, you just have to post it in green.

Sarcasm is allowed. And you don't have to post it in green, either. It's nice to give a hint, though, that you are being sarcastic.

Oh, I've been posting it in green lately. But whatever works.

And be at least somewhat amusing with it.

Exactly.

Dump Remlinger, Neifi, Hollandsworth for WHATEVER you can get, if for no other reason than to take them out of Dusty's hands. He's shown that if he's got 'em, he'll play 'em.

I like Hollandsworth, as a 4th OF and pinch hitter, and that's why he was acquired, it's just a shame he's being misused at the expense of a prospect with a pretty good upside.

Neifi, I don't really like, but he is a backup being misused also, gone. It's Cedeno time.

People marvel at how the Braves win every year, but nobody really tries to emulate them it seems...(at least in the NL - I think the Twins, A's and Angels do an admirable job of bringing in new talent).

Here's a thought. If you feel the need to trade away players who would be useful on the bench (Holly and Neifi) because the manager will play them every day if he has them, why not fire the manager instead?

Exactly. Although I'm okay cutting Neifi yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
