So how do you suggest trading someone with a no-trade clause. Or do you suggest we waive him and let someone have him for free? Just bc he's got a no-trade doesn't mean he can't be traded, if we don't want him here why would he himself want to stay with this club, I'm sure that there's teams out there that want him and he wants to be with, it wouldn't be mission impossible. If he asked for the no-trade clause, he likely asked for it with a reason: that he wants to be a Cub. Secondly, he married a woman who is from Chicago and they have a home in Chicago. That likely makes him want to stay. Third, he will likley want concessions to waive the no-trade clause which would reduce his value in a trade. Fourth, he's still a good pitcher when healthy. It makes no sense to trade him. And yes, a no-trade clause means he can't be traded without his consent. I've yet to see any inclination that Wood wants to be traded. I think the list of teams he would accept a trade to would be very small indeed. Just cuz he's got a woman from Chicago, he's got a home, and he signed with a no-trade, doesn't mean he'd be unwilling to be trade. If the cubs simply find a good trade partner and ask him to waive it, first off Wood's gotta want to play for a team that wants him and hopefully that team is a team he wouldn't mind playing for. And yeah he's a good pitcher WHEN HEALTHY, when has he been healthy anyway? not in the past 2 years, that's too long for the cubs to keep getting pushed back and hoping for him to return in a 2,4,8 weeks. Begging a season you've gotta have a set rotation, with Wood in there the rotation is never set cuz he hasn't been able to stay healthy, and then the Cubs have gotta hope for guys like Rusch or Mitre to step in, thankfully they've done a decent job, but you can't go on doing this year after year like they've done 04-05, it's that simple.
