Instead of the current interrogation methods used at Gitanamo Bay, maybe the CIA should switch to forcing the Al Qaeda members to listen to endless repeats of Buck & McCarver's all-star tape. Listening to their boring, condesending style, their lame senses of humor, their keen eyes for the obvious would surely drive the prisoners crazy and force them to reveal everything they know.

There was a time when I felt sorry for McCarver when Deion intentionally sprayed champagne in his eyes.

Now...not so much...

I was laughing so hard I had to lean against something when I realized that Brian Regan's Tim McCarver bit was totally true.

I couldn't freakin' believe McCarver said Rogers' statement was contrite and sincere. It was a freakin' prepared statement! I hate when people read an apology. What the heck is that? I can't believe he actually thought Rogers was totally genuine in his remarks. Okay, I can't read Rogers' mind, but reading a prepared statement doesn't seem genuine to me.

That was awesome. "YOU'RE A REAL MAN, DEION"

It didn't exactly get off to a roaring start when Joe Buck called Derrek Lee "Carlos" when going through the lineups....

It gets better, during the recap on Baseball Tonight (At noon EST on ESPN today...) they still called him Carlos Lee when they showed him striking out i nthe first... I was fine with it.

I especially enjoyed how they spent 2 inning talking about nothing but Rogers and the "incident" with no mention of what was happening on the field, but then said, "I don't think it's been a distraction."

No, not at all fellas.

By the way, I'm very fascinated to hear Joe talk about how La Russa has probably been thinking about this years All-Stare game since the end of last season. In fact, not only was I fascinated the first time he said it, I was down right tickled pink after several other mentions of it.

Also, I can't get enough talk about Eckstien's hustle. It's fascinating. More please.

Buck and McCarver were par for being horrible.

I'd say the worst was when the pre-game crew absolutely silenced Ernie Halwell in a manner that was about as smooth as a glass-shards versions of a slip-n-slide. I mean if they can allow McCarver to waste time by throwing out some incredibly poor mixed metaphors then they can allow Halwell to wax nostalgia. Classless. I hate Fox Sports programming ... and don't even start with the over-produced commercial tie-in formatting. I nearly threw up in my mouth on a few occasions.

Bucks announcment of the line-ups was listless and drab. The long pause after mentioning Kenny Rogers was uncalled for. I tuned them out after that. I see McCarver in the same light as Joe Morgan. And Buck is worse then Skip Carry in my eyes.

Yeah, when Fox was doing the reserves, they usually moved pretty quickly when they were going through the people, but for some unknown and completely uncalled for reason they lingered on Rogers for a couple of extra seconds.

My dad also commented on how the pregame people just cut off one of the greatest voices in baseball history. I hope Fox is proud, because if their intentions were to show how they are one of the most despicable networks, they certainly accomplished that.

Who is it that thinks McCarver or Morgan are any good? I have never heard anyone express anything but disgust at their "Talent" for calling games yet they've been around for 3 forevers.

I may even hate McCarver more than Morgan. McCarver is especially bad during the playoffs.

"Do you see that thread hanging off the CF pnats cuff? That could be the difference in the game." ugh.

I don't really mind Buck as much. Compared to McCarver, Joe Buck is Steve Stone.

I really enjoyed the Corvette ads during the post game too. Yes, I'm sure that Miguel Tejada, who makes upwards of $10 million a year is pooping in his pants about getting a free corvette.

The entire game was one big ad. How many times did they show the GM tower during the broadcast? Or how about the little DHL signs hanging behind the pitchers in the bullpen? I couldn't take it anymore.

And if you want to use cruel torture, make the Gitmo inmates watch those animated explanations of pitches. Did you know that a change up is just a slow ball? Wow, thanks Slider!

These guys always amaze me. You never hear one word of praise for their work, yet year after year they continue to be employed. The same goes for Bill Walton doing NBA telecasts - BRUTAL!

Tim McCarver is brutal. But Joe Buck isn't that bad. He's better when McCarver isn't his color man, he just brings the whole operation down.

It sounds like what people mostly don't like about Buck is that he is a Cardinals fan. If that's the case just admit that's the reason, instead of pretending like he is bad at his craft.

And accidentaly calling D Lee Carlos Lee is not evidence that he is bad at play by play. That kind of thing happens frequently in sports play by play.

I can't stand Buck because he editorializes all the time. When Rogers came into the game, the first thing you heard was about how he and possibly McCarver(didn't want to speak for him) had a change of heart about Rogers playing in the game. Same thing with the Randy Moss incident. He immediately went into saying that it was disgraceful, disgusting, and other such disses. On a related note, I was surprised when Buck was not doing Cardinal PBP on FSN this year. What's the story behind that?

He does editorialize too much I agree. I usually just tune that out.

He only does play by play for Cardinals home games, and only then when he isn't doing something for national Fox.

Ah, that explains it, thanks. Weird that I haven't caught him on any of their telecasts that I've flipped to.

Being a huge fan of Brian Regan and yet somehow unfamiliar with his Tim McCarver, I would appreciate it greatly if you would indulge me with a brief summary of the joke.

As for Mr. McCarver's commentary, I can only say I think Fox is merely listening to the delivery and not the actual substance. Seems to be a pretty common fault in the entertainment industry these days...

Not to go too off-topic but, the badness of Buck/Mccarver combo, doesn't even hold a candle to the ESPN Sunday night football team. Buck/McCarver sound good compared to them. I supposed my standards have been lowered.

Man, you've completely lost me on this one. I think they are the best to listen to, by a fairly wide margin.

Same here. I love Mike Patrick.
