Yankees get Corey Patterson

Cubs get Adam Dunn

Reds get Chien-Ming Wang, David Aardsma, & Rich Hill

Yankees need a defensive CF with Kotsay off the market, Patterson can be a long-term solution with their hope his offense upside comes around.

Cubs need a long-term big bat in Left after Alou. We all know about Dunn power and OBP.

Reds needs pitching, pitching, & more pitching. They would need an overwhelming amount of talent to trade Dunn perhaps this would do it. With Dunn's salary increasing every year it might be the right time to move him and get maximum value.

Brian Cashman is pretty adamant in not giving up Wang or Eric Duncan for anything at this point, especially Corey Pattterson.

Well in the past it seems that Cashman don't have a say if the Boss wants it to happen.

While that's true, there doesn't seem to be anything here that screams that the Boss would intervene. There's no high profile guy coming or going to NY, if anything Steinbrenner would likely be upset he didn't get the big gun(Dunn) in the deal. JMO.

I know Cano is playing decently. But what about:

Cubs get: Dunn, Christian Garcia (NYY pitching prospect)

Yanks get: Patterson, Walker

Reds get: Williams, Hill, Hughes, and Cabrera

I think that if the yankees are gonna give up there top prospects there gonna want someone better then corey patterson, even if you throw in walker. If there gonna trade there top prospects there gonna go get a pitcher like schmidt or zito.

I actually believe Brian Cashman when he says he won't be raising the payroll.

From Peter Gammons (Insider Needed)

"We have to get back to doing what made the Yankees so good for such a long period beginning in the '90s," said Cashman. "We're in the position we're in because we stopped developing our own young players. We can point to what's happened since we brought up Robinson Cano and Chien Wang."

"I always had a great deal of respect for Brian," says Epstein. "But I have more now than ever. Here he is without a contract, and he's putting the long-term good of the New York Yankees ahead of his own job security." Of course, Epstein doesn't have a contract past Oct. 1, either.

Cashman looks back at how the Yankees filtered young players in and complemented them with free agents and trades. Bernie Williams and Andy Pettitte. Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. "Then we brought up Jorge Posada, broke him [in] under Joe Girardi, and eventually Jorge took over. Then Alfonso Soriano broke in. But for one reason or another, it broke down, and now we're at a point where we can't go any further in payroll. We have to get it down. That's why we had to draw the line on [Carlos] Beltran."

Theo for GM! I'd love to have a 'moneyball' guy as GM.

I have to give some kudos to LeftCoastCubsFan for talking early on (Regular) about how the Yankees payroll and the luxury tax might preclude signing Beltran, among other things.

I like your proposal raw. I think it is fair to all parties and each team gets better. I do think the Yankees are lookting for at least a starter and perhaps a bullpen arm though. Maybe take Williams or Hill and put him on the Yankees and give the Reds Brownlie or some other type b/c prospect.

If CPatt can't handle the pressure here, imagine what happens when he goes on one of hsi prolonged hitless streaks in The Boogie Down...

They wouldn't want him.
