I thought it would be cool to look through and see where former Cubs minor league players are at now; feel free to add more.

Matt Bruback and Midre Cummings are with Baltimore's AAA team.

Jason Fransz is with Baltimore's low-A team.

Ross Gload and Roosevelt Brown are with the White Sox's AAA team.

Bear Bay is with the Indians AA team now.

Jason Karnuth and Gookie Dawkins are with the Tigers' AAA team.

I've got to leave, I'll continue adding some later.

Shawn Sonnier is with KC's AAA team.

Augie Ojeda and Todd Dunwoody are with the Twins' AAA team.

Justin Jones is with the Twins' high-A team.

Juan Cruz is with the A's AAA team.

Mike Nannini is with the A's AA team.

Steve Smyth is with the A's high-A team.

John Webb is with TB's AAA team.

Jason Arnold is with Toronto's AAA team.

Josh Arteaga is with Atlanta's AA team.

Ryan Jorgensen is with the Marlins' AAA team.

Ismael Valdez is with the Marlins' high-A team.

Will Cunnane is with Houston's AAA team.

Andy Pratt is with the Brewers' AA team.

Jared Blasdell is with the Phillies high-A team but I think he's either been cut already or hasn't pitched yet this year due to an injury.

Ray Sadler is with Pittsburgh's AA team.

Scott Chiasson is with SF's AA team.

Chris Gissell is with Stl's AAA team.

Robinson Cancel (spring training invitee) is with the Cardinals' AA team.

Brendan Harris is with Washington's AAA team (though I believe he was just called up recently). Kevin Orie is also with Washington's AAA team.

These are all the ones I found on active minor league rosters. I didn't search through DL lists, that wouldn't taken too long. I'll look through independent and mexican league rosters later.

THe worthless Delmarva Shorebirds media guide didn't even mention that Jason Fransz was in the Cubs system. When was that? Delmarva has a weird habbit of bringing in guys that have no business in low A. They have one player (Cates) who's in his 4th season with the Shorebirds. Luckily he can't touch Earl Cunningham's record of 17 seasons in A ball.

He was last in the system in '03 and spent most of his time with Lansing. He was traded to the Rangers on July 30th of that year for Doug Glanville.

Ok, all that I found are updated. If I missed any please let me know and I'll put them up there too, I'll search for IL and mexican league players later but my eyes hurt from looking at the screen.

Todd Dunwoody are with the Twins' AAA team.

WOW...that's a forgettable Cub right there! That name brings me back to horrible Cubs teams of years gone by...

Steve Smyth is with the A's high-A team.

This is so weird. I was just thinking about wherethis guy might be the other day. I see our former "future lefty starter" is now reduced to A-ball...ouch.

Ismael Valdez is with the Marlins' high-A team.

This guy was on a couple Major League rosters in recent years and CONTRIBUTING. What happened? Did he get hurt?

I love MiLB! I'm wearing my Montgomery Biscuits cap right now!

I like to think I stay pretty up-to-date with our minor leaguers, and remember most names from the past....but Gissell, this one I am clueless. What is his background and the link to the Cubs? Looks like he has some respectable numbers there for Memphis (I like the ERA and 3/1 K/BB ratio)

Chris was a Cubs 4th round pick out of HS in 1996 who was thought of pretty highly in the late '90s (he cracked #3 in BA's top 10 Cubs list in 1999 or 2000). I guess he's about 27 now.

Smyth is one of the minor league players suspended earlier in the season for testing positive for a banned substance.

Chris Mowday threw two innings for the Calgary Vipers (Northern League) this season and was subsequently released.

Ferenç Jongejan had signed with the San Angelo Colts (Central League), but got injured in the spring and had surgery on his left (throwing) shoulder. He is currently listed on the DL of Neptunus Rotterdam (Dutch league)

Kevin Orie is raking it up, think the Nats will trade him so he can be our 3B of the future :):)

It's funny when I think back to how he was suppose to be the answer to 3B for the next 10 years.... He could always hit minor legue pitching, but always had problems hitting major league pitching for extended periods. Pitchers/teams always realized he had too big of a swing, could be jammed inside, and would chase the ball outside... kind of like Corey Patterson.

Stumbled upon by accident:

Ivanon Coffie is playing for Almere in the Dutch (amateur) league. Well actually, he is currently involved with the national team in the European Chamionship being played in the Czech Republic.

Gissell started the AAA all star game for the PCL. It appears he's maxing out at around 87 mph these days (he was hitting 94-95 when he was a Cubs prospect).
