On a night that included Corey Patterson and Jason Dubois getting sent to AAA while Matt Murton and Adam Greenberg received "The Call", Ron Potesta, "The Voice of the Diamond Jaxx", joined FlashChat for an impromptu chat on the events of the evening. Here are some of the excerpts:

On Murton and Greenberg in the big leagues:

trust me.. THEY ARE GOING TO GET TIME

there is nothing lateral about the move

Greenberg will be in CF as early as tomorrow night,

Murton is fine.. he will hit well up there..

this is a great move by Hendry.. just sit back and watch what happens..

I truly believe this move is going to jump start this team

Murton will play.. not as much as Greenberg short term.. but they will both get their AB's

Murton will play some LF..

we get Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa and Creighton from High-A Daytona

these moves told me that the Cubs know the meat of their team lies in West Tenn

In regards to Bobby Dickerson's feelings on the roster moves:

Bobby loves it.. It's a reflection on he and the coaching

Murton has to be replaced (in the Southern League All-Star Game).. Sing or Theriot might replace him.. thats up to the league

Von is the man.. there isn't a better hitting coach in the organization

i don't think anybody anticipated the losing skid.. i really think this is a move to jolt the team back into their winning ways.

Delmon Young is a stud.. He is going to be a flat-out superstar..

don't be surprised to see both Murton and Greenberg in the line-up tomorrow night

If Ron's right about Murton and Greenberg getting plenty of playing time I'll feel a lot better about their promotions.

So he actually thinks Greenberg will play MORE than Murton? That's interesting, i would have thought the other way around. I know we need the leadoff hitter, but frankly, Murton has been one of the minors' best hitters this season, and we need offense from wherever we can get it right now...

Yah, I kind of doubt what he said as well. Greenberg was only hitting what 270 at AA? Doesnt seem like he "deserves" (Hendry's words) to be called up with those stats.

guys (and girls) please see what I said.. i said Greenberg would get more playing time in the SHORT TERM.. the reason in theory is Greenberg would play against righties in CF while Murton would see left handed pitching in LF.

Noting that Dontrelle Willis is pitching tonight and the fact that he is a lefty, Greenberg probably won't be in the lineup, but Murton could very well be in there.. at any rate, I love the move because it is going to jolt the parent club back to their winning ways.

Prophetic call. Murton's debut was great. Can't beat a 1.000 career batting average (with a sacrifice fly on top of that). Good things happen to players who answer questions from NSBB members. :D

Wouldn't it be a nice problem to have players coming to us asking to be interviewed!

Indeed. And let's not forget the walk, too. Murton now has an OBP of .750 and an OPS of 2.250!

It's just one game. Those were darn near his numbers after 2 months in AA this year. By August 15, Murton will be hitting .350/.480/.670....BOOK IT!

Why are you guys happy with his numbers. You thought Corey was bad, Murtons OBP is actually TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY POINTS LOWER then his BA! With numbers that bad, I don't see how he can retain a spot in the bigs

 ;)

He's a worthless bum. He's so bad that his career major league BA fell 500 points in one game. :D

That's terrible. Cut him.
