Maybe you all already know this, but I was traveling over the weekend and found out that the SCORE is now being broadcast over the net. For those of you outside Chicago--it is a sportsradio pretty much dedicated to baseball.

THought many of you would enjoy this!!

Be warned though, most of the personalities there are full of crap and they are either very late with news, or they give bogus reports.

Yeah but at least their afternoon show is local which I like to listen too...even though they are egotistical jerks...it is local!

It's local...that is all you can say.

I tuned in to Boers and Bernstein today for 5 minutes and they were saying that Jose Contreras is as good as Kerry Wood. They said it was a no-brainer to trade Wood and that he should be the first guy out the door. What a bunch of morons.

Thankfully I'm not stuck in traffic like I used to be so I practically never tune into the Score.

And don't get me started on Mike Murphy. The man sounds like he's having a heart attack every time he talks. Sports radio generally in Chicago is really bad.

I would say that every Score show is much weaker than it's ESPN counterpart. The Score's morning and afternoon shows are absolutely terrible. As is Murph. Jay Hood's solo show on the weekends is the only decent show on that station.

Bors and Bernstien are interesting for about 3 mins until they inevitably degenerate into a nonstop stream of their little catch phrases ("Hello?") and goofy laughter at things that aren't remotely funny.

someone should just call in and scream "NO TRADE CLAUS"

I am a huge fan of Boers and Bernstein, and like many wasn't so sure I liked them at first. Some people take them way too seriously and that's too bad because they don't take themselves seriously. People have to understand that they can be antagonistic and it's all part of the show. If you want 'serious' sports talk, you'll have to go listen to the 'Jim Rome Show'. He's not funny at all. I, like many others, need more than just sports news when I'm out in the field working.

Woo Hoo, another bitter self proclaimed genius. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why, if he's so smart, nobody hires him to run a team? I know why. Most of you should figure it out too. He NEVER helped any pitcher on the Cubs, just a critic. Not much demand for a thin skinned, second guessing critic.

That's funny, because I listened to Steve his entire career, and I hear him every week on the Score and I have never once heard him refer to himself as a "genius". His job with the Cubs was not to "help pitchers". That job would fall under the description of an employee called a "pitching coach", while Steve's job was a "analyst" which calls for praising and criticzing the team he "analyzes". Sadly, a lot of Cub fans could not quite handle that "criticizing" part. They prefer to hear only "praising". Well, not to worry, Brenly is going to make a lot of Cub fans a lot more comfortable.

And as I have said before, Stone is a first guesser, not a second guesser. That's a huge difference. And he is also still thinks that the Cubs will win the wildcard. I wish I could share in his optimism.

North is a GREAT interviewer and he adds something different to the station. B/B know their stuff most of the time, although they do have their favorites. I love Buffone cuase he knows football. The SCORE is not afraid to tell it like it is. When they get all the Sox games next year it will get even hotter. Murf is GREAT. The only real Cubs fan except Offman on the station. He was an original bleacher bum.

The Score has degenerated badly since I first listened to them:

Buffone and Van Lier in the mornings (bad, I'll give u that)

North and Jiggetts

Danny Mac and Terry

Mike Murphy (god awful)

Tommy Williams (awesome)

Les Grobstein (he should post here)

The lineup as a whole was strong even if there was a bad show for the morning drive....

You don't like Mike Murphy? I like Murphy, although his sound effects and behind the talking music gets annoying sometimes.

They do take themselves seriously. They are the most offensive, self-serving, self-indulgent clowns on the radio. North is a distant second, only because he's so foolish that sometimes, he's amusing. I listen to Mike and Mike on MVP in the am -- they talk sports, not local "personalities" and politics.

I like Murph in spite of his idiosyncrasies because he wears his Cub-blue heart on his sleeve and suffers like the rest of us, kind of the way I tolerate Ronnie's "color analysis." Oh-no!!!

Best regards and pass the maalox -- this will be a long summer.

I have to disagree with most of you. Boers and Bernstein is my all time favorite sports talkshow in my 30 years on this earth. Why? They understand that even though sports is their job, it's still sports. It's not the end of the world. People playing games for outrageous amounts of money.

Plus they aren't homers. They will call out the most revered and idolized local sports figures if they say anything stupid. They told it like it was about Sosa, about Jordan, and many others.

I for one am glad to have the chance to hear "Who you Crappin' " on the web now!
