How many runs Cubs score are because of opponents' miscues?

It seems that opponents frequently make mistakes that end up with Cubs crossing home plate. Fortunately, Cubs fielders seldom give away runs to the opponents. While getting free runs is desirable, lumped into the total runs scored they may make the Cubs' offense appear more potent than it is. Are there statistics on how many runs are actually scored because of Cubs' bats?

This is almost assuredly a "I live in a bubble" type of a data point where it feels the Cubs' get more lucky than others because you're not watching 162 games the Rockies play, 162 games the Orioles play, etc. Not a knock on you; just a reality. 

Another part is that this is a self-perpetuating statistic. The Cubs get on base more than any other team. They have more chances to make this happen. 

It is an inconsequential part of what makes the Cubs a good offense. I wouldn't worry about it. The Athletics have the second worst defense and the second most runs surrendered. The difference in earned versus unearned is around 60. Spread over the course of a year, it's very unlikely any specific offense is getting lucky enough that this is significantly boosting their run output.

But yeah, you're right, it's mostly related to created opportunities because of how many guys they get on base and in both the Cubs and Brewers cases, how often they're stealing or taking an extra base that may not necessarily get chalked up to an error, but the defense doesn't make a play they probably should and a run scores.

yeah, the Cubs and Brewers have the most PAs in the MLB, (with the Cubs having 86 more than the Brewers) and the Cubs have a below average strikeout rate, so they put the ball in play a lot and have opportunities for other teams to make mistakes. And given that the Cubs are the best defensive team in the league, it becomes more apparent that the opponents are costing themselves runs with bad defense

Cubs lead the league in plate appearances, at bats and have the 8th lowest strikeout rate.
 

Unless you have data on percentage of balls hit in play resulting in errors, then it’s a simple cause and effect thing.

they also lead the league in home runs and slugging. don't think there's a lot of errors on those.
