Woah Jhon Cabral

8 of his 12 fastballs were triple digits

Cabral has one of the most insane walk rates I've seen on a baseball-ref page. Wonder if they can fix him

Luis Rujano averaged 95.8 and topped out at 96.8:

Marlins released him, has major control problems, hope the Cubs stick with him.  For once I'd like to see the Cubs pull a Jeremiah Estrada or Trevor Megill on another team.

Do we think Cabral's slider and cutter are just one pitch or the other? Numbers look really close

On Dominick Reid

Feels like a good idea. If you're not going to be a "pure" stuff guy, then the "throws a kitchen sink" is a viable option. Colin Rea has made a late-career out of being that type of a dude. We saw Janson Junk use "a billion different pitches" to effect at the end of the year.

If they could get Reid to add a couple more ticks I'd be really excited.

Cabada went 1/3 yesterday with a double, walk and 2 strikeouts.

Still only OPSing .535 but not bad considering his age.

More than one way to skin a cat. He's got some pretty excellent extension. He hasn't shown any real "velocity" add, but 93mph and the extension which plays that up, plus a lot of pitches begins to paint the picture of a real future for him at the higher levels.

I don't think Reid is ever going to be "very exciting"; the very exciting ones rarely throw a ton of pitches because they have a few pitches that carry the day. But the more you look at things like this you can see "MLB viable arm". And the Cubs need that.
