Why Ford? Yeah he's a really good prospect, but the Cubs have Kelly signed through '26 with a mutual option for '27 but mutual options are never picked up. They also have Amaya who seems like a legitimate above average starter behind the plate. Also insert generic comment about 3 team trade.

More for fun than anything else. Why I like Ford- He's probably available (not for this type of trade, likely), and he's pretty good. Amya is having a hard time staying healthy, and catchers are hard to come by.

My pie in the sky is still Joe Ryan, Griffin Jax and Willi Castro but an interesting thought is going to the Rangers. Josh Smith is having a good season and can play all over. Nathan Eovaldi is having a good season and wouldn't be a rental. Could also look at one of their relievers.

Would Ballesteros, Caissie, Ben Brown for Eovaldi, Smith and Hoby Milner be too much? Not enough?

LOL to both things

I'll believe it when I see it from the franchise that is #3 in revenue but has had 20 teams give a larger contract than any Cub has ever signed. They were 2 million away from being 22nd including such high spending teams as the Rays, Brewers, Royals, Twins, Marlins, Reds and Rockies.

edit: It's laughably pathetic that the White Sox have never given out a contract above 75M. That's the 2nd lowest in baseball behind only Oakland(67M).

I like your targets. I just have no idea on the costs.
