I would cream my jeans, bet Devers is not really playable at 3rd. He’s not a guy the Cubs usually target.

Maybe Hoyer can look into this..

Probably would need the RedSox to eat some salary though.

They would have to eat about $170 for Ricketts to even think about it.  He's owed about $22 million more this year and $254 million in the future.  Maybe the Twins could trade Correa for Devers - Correa is owed about $28 million more this year and $96 million in the future.

I don't think the Cubs want a player until the year 2033 for that price even if Sox eat significant salary.  And especially one that has proven to cause issues publicly if the team wants him to switch positions, which the Cubs would probably do at some point.

I see them only moving for a 3B upgrade if Shaw comes back up and doesn't do well.  Even then, the priority will very likely be pitching for us at the deadline.

Agreed. Cubs aren’t going to make this big a splash move for a guy who really isn’t that good a third baseman already and will only get worse as years go on. And him not being willing to move is not a good sign of how he might react later in his contract. When you add in his salary would probably take them out of any Tucker extension talk I don’t see it. Red Sox are not going to eat enough of his contract to make him and Tucker affordable.
Besides that, I don’t think they have to make a big move at 3rd. As you said, I think pitching will be the bigger focus.
