I don’t mind the concept but until they actually find guys who are top 6 players there’s justifiable skepticism. Carolina has been so much better at actual hockey rostering than Chicago. If Davidson is actually any good at his job this team should he much better now. Not 4 years from now. He’s had a horsefeathers ton of first round picks. But it’s feeling a little buffaloish to me

That's a bit unfair. Hockey players don't take quite as long as MLB to develop, but it's not dissimilar. Talk to me again this time next year and let's see where we're at.

My comments from elsewhere...

Hawks are probably playing it right here. The for sure guy up top, then two upside swings late in the first round

Frondell isn’t a for sure guy. He’s been described as much higher risk reward than other guys in same area. He’s definitely a guy that could never play much nhl hockey. Or he could be a star. Buts he’s not a safe contributor

Based on the statistical models, he's the safest guy in the class.

If the cubs had as many first round picks as Davidson has they’d have two World Series wins since Epstein left

NHL prospects take time to develop. But no real prospect spends 6 years in the minors. You have to know what you have by year three because of the way contracts work. And the Blackhawks have a bunch of unknowns

meh - I get it.

Which of the first top picks Davidson made are you complaining about? Nazar or Bedard? I could see Korchinski, but he was pretty much chalk at that spot.

When you give away real nhl talent like Debrincat, Hagel, Strome etc in the name of tanking so you stockpile picks but then you just start giving away pics because you have too many picks to use and have no realistic shot of being good for years then it’s kind of a waste of resources.

but at least Danny is on board

we'll see how it works out. I'm more optimistic than you, but only time will tell how it works out.

Could be OKC, could be Philly, to borrow from another sport

Davidson’s first draft was 2022. It hasn’t been 6 years for any of these kids.

The jury is still out on Korchiniski, but Nazar is already an NHL player and Rinzel looks like he’ll be as well.

I’m not sure what more you’re expecting here.

Frondell is legit. 1) he’s a stud. 2) he shares the first name of my great-great-great grandfathers name “Anton” who moved here from Röt Germany in 1849 and I will forever say is a under appreciated first name.

i want his jersey

The Hawks are no better off by keeping DeBrincat, Hagel, and Strome than they are today. They'd just be a different version of a bad team.

As a Red Wings fan I think the Hawks are a lot closer to being really good than the Wings. The Wings will be 10 yrs no playoffs after next season. With a GM who will be hard to fire.

Thank God the Cubs never hired Sandberg as manager

Davidson is adding a lot of size in this draft.

  • Nathan Behm, RW, 6'2" 202, WHL - Kamloops
  • Julius Sumpf, C, 6'2" 190, QMJHL - Moncton
  • Parker Holmes, LW, 6'4" 222, OHL - Brantford
  • Ashton Cumby, D, 6'5" 216, WHL - Seattle
  • Ilya Kanarsky, G, 6'3" 180, Russia Jr. - AKM Tula Jr.

I know there a Hawks fans that were not too thrill with the West and Nestraisil picks but I'm willing to give Davidson some leeway.

He jumped the market on Rinzel and so far that looks like a brilliant move. For that reason, I’m trusting him here. West could end up being a star. There’s a lot of Tage Thompson in his game.

Sam Lafferty is back.

Reacquired for a 2026 6th round pick.

The third time Davidson has traded for lafferty.

Not sure why they needed another 4th line forward

I believe it gets them to the cap floor.

They were already over after Burakovsky.

currently at 75m and floor is 70.6

Reichel was expected to be dealt in a player for player swap. Maybe the belief that he can bring back a roster player is diminishing?

Frondell signed his ELC. There’s been contradictory chatter from beat writers about the plan for Frondell, some insisting he’s going back to Sweden and others saying he may break camp with the big team.

I don’t think this clarifies it’s one way or another but it would seemingly indicate the possibility he stays in the states this year is higher than some may have imagined

I think he is going back to Sweden.
