Ismael Mena doubled, walked twice, scored a run, and drove-in another, Ronny Cruz singled, walked twice, and scored a run, Edgardo de Leon drilled a two-run single, and SP Jostin Florentino fired five innings of one hit / no run ball with seven strikeouts and combined with two relievers on a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts, as the Cubs blanked the Rockies 3-0 in Cactus League Extended Spring Training game action Monday afternoon on Dust Storm Field at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick (Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community), east of Scottsdale, AZ.

Jostin Florentino seems to be having some very good outings.  Not a tall guy, per bbcube, only 6'0" listing.  Has anybody gotten any observations on his stuff and potential?

Good to see the Cruz name pop up.

You'll have to forgive my lack of source on it at this moment (I'll look it up shortly again) but, I believe it was BA who had an interesting blurb on Cruz - the Cubs thought Cruz outhit Cam Smith on the Trajekt system over the fall and winter. That's obviously not game stuff, but he feels like a guy who could have some real helium behind him.

Jostin Florentino: FB 88-91,  CV 73-75, no third pitch at this time, with the CV being his swing & miss pitch. He has room to grow, so FB velo should increase a bit as he matures. He reminds me of Yenrri Rojas.

Love that the organization has a 21 yr old C in AAA with an ops over 1.000 who somehow isn't top 100.

The 45 FV was just beyond the pale.  With Caissie, too.
