man oh man do i love bumping this thread

Early reports suggest that Neifi is going to start at second base and bat second today. Probably because he's better than Hairston at nothing.

Are you serious??!? Where did you hear this?

Levine on ESPN 1000 said Neifi would be starting.

I hate Dusty.

Yuck.... :(

I'd perfer Hairston over Perez anyday, anytime.

Not only is it absolutely ridiculous that Perez is starting over Hairston in itself; it's even more absurd that Perez is hitting #2.

Dusty is an ABSOLUTE moron. He did the same crap last year when Ordonez would play.. He'd bat him #2. Hell, we had Lenny Harris hit leadoff a couple times. Great idea... get your worst hitters the most at bats possible.

Well, if that is true, that Perez is starting today, then I hope the fans will let Dusty know that they don't appreciate it, or something. *shrugs*

I doubt it. It seems like the average fans that go to the ballpark think Dusty is just the greatest.

Sadly, I think that those of us who point out how clueless he really is are just a vocal minority.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on this one. *sighs* Oh well, who knows? Maybe Perez might actually contribute today. We'll see.

Ok, I thought that was a joke... Perez at 2nd...

Yeah, ok...

I guess with Dempster going we don't need much run support

I think we should judge Baker on who he puts out there day in day out in Walker's absense. Look around the league, most managers are at the point in the season where they are trying to get their 23rd, 24th, 25th guy a start to keep them from losing what they had going during ST. As long as this is a lone Neifi start, I am fine with it.

I'm actually surprised that Baker is burning his top Pinch Hitter in a starting role.

This hasn't been mentioned yet, but what do you think this is going to do to Hairston's confidence, other than kill it. Neifi knows that he is a bench guy, but Hairston figured he would get a shot at some starts. If he platoons these two because Neifi is a switch hitter, I will vomit.

Its the Cubs fans that are cursed, not the team itself. We have our best collection of talent in a LONG time and who is our steward? Dusty freaking Baker. Simply amazing.

wow, i cant believe dusty is dumb enough to put neifi perez out there. No hairston jr?? are you kidding me??

dusty has to be the most overrated manager in baseball. i really havent seen good managing out of him, certainly not good strategy. he frustrates me to no end....if we fail this year he's gone.

One of the possible reasons mentioned that Neifury is starting is that he's 6 for 21(.285) against Eaton with a HR. I still think that's not enough to play him, since 6 for 21 is only one good defensive play from being 5 for 21(.238). This is why sample size matters.

Dusty will be our manager until some SERIOUS critisism starts coming in from the press, the nationwide press...

Frankly, starting Perez should warrant that critisism... but it probably won't happen...

of course neifi has seen eaton more times, hairston played in the AMERICAN LEAGUE!

play your best players dusty, come on.

it seems like dusty doesn't want to win. like he's trying to get fired. i hope he does.

Dusty's excuse on WGN for starting Neifi, "Neifi's more familiar with Eaton than Jerry being he came from the NL West. So...we'll work it out."

Great. Neifi is going to be more familiar with most pitchers because he's spent all his time in the NL. Hairston better get comfortable with those splinters in his butt.

Somebody with more motivation than me should really create an online petition to have Dusty put in an insane asylum.

I mean, really, Perez?

This is going to be a VERY long thread before it's all said and done.
