Yeah, that sucks, but that has to be it for Brennen with the Cubs.  There is no reason to keep him on the 40 man this winter.

It's a total shame. 

Not being funny, the last year or so, everytime brennen Davis is mentioned I see Samuel L. Jackson in my minds eye. And I can't shake  the response. Having said that, I suspect you will too.

I don't believe in anything like curses, but Davis certainly tests that belief. He can't get through more than a few weeks of baseball without some type of longer lasting injury. I do hope he signs a minor league deal with the Cubs because I do think, if he can manage to stay up right for any extended period, he will see some play in MLB.

If the Cubs DFA Davis, which they don't necessarily *have* to do with another option year remaining, he'll probably value an org with an easier outfield to break into over any friendships/familiarity he has with the Cubs.  He clearly seems to have a limited number of bullets so he should go somewhere that can bring up up the instant he seems ready.

Id say no way they keep him on the 40 man for another offseason, but somehow Mastrobuoni has survived this long on the 40 man so anything is possible
