I couldn't find a week 3 thread - but is anyone going to go out of their way and watch the Jets and Patriots on Amazon? I mean, major markets and all, but I can't imagine anyone signing up to watch these Thursday games.

I've had my Amazon account long before Prime even existed. The free shipping was worth it for the membership all by itself. We had friends over. I fired up the Weber and made Brats, put a tv on the patio, got the tiki torches fired up, put on some music and watched the game.

$10,000 fine for punching Roschon Johnson? That's it? Too bad we aren't playing the Jets this year. We could get every Bear player lined up to take turns punching Aaron Rodgers in the face.

Who pays for cable anymore?

TV Show, Movies, News, Sports. everything is free on the internet if you know where to look.

I mean so I' hear 🫣

The $73 I pay for YouTube TV is worth it between having anything I want to watch at the click of a button when I travel, not having to search for things (especially sports), and not wasting time or dealing with a pirated stream that may or may not flash porn ads on the screen intermittently with other people in the room.

Could we just do this anyway?

I don't want to go to the trouble of jailbreaking Firesticks. I don't want to go to the trouble of setting up a VPN. I just want everything I want, all in one place, easy to find and preferably legally.

You can definitely cut the cord without doing those things, though the cost savings have narrowed considerably (for equivalent packages).

A lot of it comes down to just how much you want to compromise on.  Cable doesn't really require you to often make restrictive TV decisions.  But cost is more (especially if you truly want everything) and it's not necessarily the easiest to get up and going (boxes, cables, contracts, whatever).  Steaming TV can be up in minutes on any smart TV.

What kind of streaming are you talking about that I don't already have? I've got You Tube TV, Prime, Netflix, Apple TV, Paramount +, Peacock, Max and Hulu. I don't have cable. I'm rural and just switched from Viasat (satellite internet) and DirecTV (satellite tv) to Starlink and You Tube TV. I'm not overly concerned about price. I just went from $512 a month for internet and DirecTV to $220 a month for Starlink and You Tube TV. Even added Sunday Ticket since it's basically paid for in one month of savings from my switch. I'm cool with adding Marquee and/or Chicago Sports Network (if they create a stream and aren't available any other way) as streaming channels, also.

Ah, I thought you were saying traditional cable.  Then yea, YouTube TV (or a few others) basically stand in as a mid tier cable package replacement (for slightly lower cost and better dvr, from my research).

I had You Tube TV for awhile in San Diego 3 some odd years ago. I don't hate it. Hopefully they pick up Chicago Sports Network once NBC Sports Chicago goes off the air on September 30.
