A couple of comments;

-Congrats to Vazquez on his first career RBI.  We’ll ignore the fact that it was off a position player

-I can’t believe Billy McKinney is still in the majors. Has played in every season since 2018, but only 2 seasons where he’s played more than 48 games in the majors. Also somehow has played on 7 different teams over that timespan

Man, I had the exact same thought about McKinney. And he was a part of two trades that helped the Cubs win the World Series. Came over with Addison Russell and left in the deal that brought in Aroldis Chapman.

Who would have thought PCA would ever put together a 30 day stretch where not only does he mash but he also posts a 1:1 BBK. If we get anywhere close to a guy like this over the next however many years we have him we will have one of the most valuable players in the league.

He and Amaya are doing it all right now for the offense.

Holy moly, how am I just seeing this now?  I get that a position player is pitching and the Cubs were currently holding a 9 run lead in the 9th but how the hell does a pitch this bad get called a strike?

Our offense is much better when our 7/8/9 hitters hit well.

Before the deadline our 5-9 hitters in the lineup all had wRC+ under 100.  Yuck.  Glad things have improved.

All these blowouts getting Neely a lot of work

Neely's fastball looks very hittable so far.  Guys hitting .375 and .750 SLG on it so far, very high exit velo.  Early yet though.

Doesn’t strikeout rate stabilize around 100 PAs or so? PCA is around 15% over his last 100 PAs.

Yes and no right? Obviously his first 100 PAs weren't a definitive sign he was going to lock in at a 24.5% rate. Obviously encouraging though,

Umpire Scorecard is as bad as you’d expect. Somehow in a game the Cubs won by 10 runs, the umpiring was favored towards the Pirates by 2 runs lol
