In case you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic about "only $20 a month".  MLB.tv is cheaper for live games, and Marquee has yet to put out enough quality programming to make it worth watching Marquee outside of Cubs games imo.

Edit: I realize there is value for Cubs fans in-market that can't access Marquee on their cable outlet or don't have cable and are blacked out from watching on MLB.tv, but $20 a month is insane

The service is clearly just targeting people who don't have or want cable/streaming TV but still want to watch the Cubs (the presumption is that if you want to watch the Cubs in market and pay for live TV you'll probably just find the service(s) that carry Marquee) so $20 a month doesn't strike me as completely insane given that knowledge. I still don't expect that to generate meaningful revenue, though.

Oh please can I pay $20/m to watch a mediocre team and the same half dozen programs that run continuously whenever there isn't a game on? Where do I sign up?

Interestingly you can't even subscribe if you're outside the Cubs TV market. I'd expect there to at least be the option even though there's nothing worth bothering with outside of games, but they probably just don't want to deal with it.

I'm perfectly fine with this as an option for $20/month.  Is it a great value?  No, probably not, but it's a legitimate alternative to a cable TV subscription where we didn't have one before.  If I ever end up without a live TV provider, it's either this or MLB.tv through a VPN, and the VPN can be problematic.

I'm fine with that.  It's about what i expected. I have no interest in cable whatsoever so atleast I now have the option to get Marquee standalone if I want it. You can buy a MLB.TV subscription and a VPN for much cheaper so I definitely will not be in any hurry to convert. All those minor league games make it better then Marquee anyway. But in a few years when the Ricketts put some real effort into the team again I might consider it. Having the option is nice.
