Never would have made a new topic before the death of mega threads so here we are.  For those still watching the Cubs avidly, you'll know Nico went out with a hamstring injury yesterday.  He's considered day-to-day and Morel is starting at 2B tonight.

I guess day-to-day is better than 'we know he needs to go on the IL now because it's that bad', but I get the feeling we're headed for another situation where he's basically down for 10 days anyway but we just pretend he might come back sooner and play a man down for that entire time.

Looks like this isn't your first David Ross IL rodeo

The team has been really bad about stringing hurt guys along before, but with the off day Thursday and the fortuitous timing of bringing up Morel I don't hate it as long as he's either starting or on the IL for Friday's game in Minnesota.

Should we start making predictions as to when he goes on the IL? I'll say Friday morning so they can bring up another player for the Twins series.

I'm no Ross fan but as a person who runs multiple baseball communities, pretty much every fanbase complains about this happening, which means most (if not all) teams tend to do it.

In this particular instance it seems to be a non-issue, since we are short on at-bats. As long as he could theoretically be an emergency bat off the bench in the 14th inning, I say its better for him to be on the roster not getting PAs than to bring up Velazquez to not get PAs.
