The only thing worse than losing last night's game was winning the game.  Unfortunately, that's what happened, I just don't see the point of winning tomorrow's game, they've no chance whatsoever against the Bucks.  It just a dumb, fruitless exercise, at least, losing last night would have increased their chances at Wemba now, that's out the door.

Losing last night doesnt change our chances of Wemba.  If you lose in the play-in you go back into the lottery based on your regular season record.  So the Raptors would still have worse odds than us if the Bulls lose tomorrow.  Winning tomorrow does of course change our odds from something to nothing.

At the end of the day, I get that this play-in is completely meaningless in the long run, but we're in it so I'm rooting them on. Our odds are 1.7% chance of getting Wemba and 8.1% chance of keeping our pick...not consequential enough for me to actively root for losing at this point.  If our odds were something like 10% chance of landing Wemba if we lost, I'd definitely be rooting for a loss.  But something that comes up 17 times out of 1000...not worth it to me.

the chances of wemba are miniscule either way, at least this way zach got some "postseason' shine and got some respect on his name

Our 2023 pick is only top 4 protected, right?

Correct.

Then we get our pick next year but lose it again in 2025 in the DeMar S&T deal with San Antonio

I did enjoy watching Zach take over along with Williams turning up the defensive screws.

That was bad.  I guess Beverly brings intangibles or some horsefeathers but he played like ass today.  Coby was the only person doing anything in the 4th and they inexplicably benched him with 3:43 left after draining a 3 to take a 3 point lead.  Heat outscored the Bulls 15-2 the rest of the way.

The Bulls were rolling with Coby and Drummond in the game so of course down the stretch Donovan benches them both. And LaVine sucks. He needs to go.

The Bulls need to blow it up for real.  The Lonzo Ball injury was extremely bad luck and has been a huge blow to the team's competitive window, but they need to accept the reality now.  I don't think trying to re-tool with the current group is going to work.  They need real stars to build around, and they aren't going to get those by drafting in the middle of the first round (or not at all).

I just don't know how they can do it without another multi-year tank.  I don't believe that either LaVine or DeRozan are guys you want to build a contender around and even if they were, they're over the cap even without Vuc and Lonzo on the books (I believe) so its not like we can improve the team in FA or really via trade as none of our signed assets are really that valuable outside of trading away DeRozan or Zach which creates another rebuild.  They have literally backed themselves into a corner with the roster with no way out.  They only own their 1st round pick 1 time over the next 3 seasons.  They are bumping up against the luxury tax even before considering possible Vuc and Coby re-signings.

They're fucked, and I think the quicker they realize that and blow things up, the better.  Please do not do another Stan Bowman and try to keep a team that is clearly not good enough in NBA hell for 3-4 years before blowing it up.

Chicago sports are a horsefeathering mess

They can't. But like you said, it's better they recognize that sooner rather than digging themselves even deeper into NBA hell.  I don't know if anyone has the appetite for another 2-3+ year rebuild, but I don't see a better option.

Multi year tanking is dumb, but they definitely need to blow things up and just try something new.

If you somehow get lucky and can S&T Vuc for anything, great.  Trade Lavine at high value.  Probably Trade DeRozan for whatever.   Get some combo of picks and young players. I like some of the types of players they've targeted in the past. Long guys who can defend and play a little position less ball. But need a true PG to replace Ball and then emphasis on shooters. And more of a rim defender.

Bring back Ayo and White.  Piece together some mid level FA adds and you may have a bit of a backdoor 2024 tank, but should be able to be active again in 2024 FA period.

It's been a while since I kept up real in depth with the NBA Cap rules. Will they at some point be eligible for an injury exemption on Balls cap hits?

AKME's post-mortem comments today we're not what I wanted to hear but I'm not surprised.  Talked about rebuilding not being something they are considering, how 14-9 after the ASB shows that they are on the right path and some comments about just needing tweaks.

Unless a miracle happens I think the best thing to do is emotionaly distance yourself from this org for a while if you haven't already.

i gave up the dream of a teardown a while ago. the most we can hope for is that they trade demar and maybe let vuc go, but even vuc seems destined to stay. attendance is great, they're fine shooting for 47 wins

The one person who didn't seem committed to staying was Coby White.  Not that he doesn't want to be back but he wants the opportunity to become a starter.  As an RFA with the Bulls cap situation, its very possible a team makes an offer the Bulls cant match without going over the hard salary cap luxury tax.

Bulls and Bucks won the same amount of playoff games this year. Rousing success.

Still pissed that Donovan sat Coby & Drummond down the stretch in Miami. We were rolling to the win when he did that.

I refuse to call the play-in round the playoffs.  I'm glad AKME didn't either after the season.  Could have easily tried to spin it as such.

Rumors are that AK got a secret extension too, just like Donovan before the season.  Rewarding more mediocrity.  The franchise is hopeless

AKME are so bad

Sure let’s spend the 3rd consecutive season waiting for a guy to return from a surgery that no professional athlete has ever returned from.

Even if Lonzo did return at some point, there’s no way he’s anywhere near the player he was from October 2021-January 2022. horsefeathers this team.   Praying we somehow overcome the 1.8% odds and land Wemba lol

Also, for the record, while I'm not a particularly big fan of the Ayton/CP3 rumors, I'd rather do that and shake things up and have a new dynamic instead of running this horsefeathers back yet again.
