This is getting ridiculous with the umps. Nico should have swung with 2 strikes but it was a ball.

Cubs load the bases with 0 outs down 1 and don’t score

ph for Rivas and let simmons hit. ross is so bad at his job.

I’d say he’s in over his head but it’s his 3rd season lol

I can't get mad about that one. It was a fraction of an inch off the plate and could go either way.

To be fair, Rivas has been striking out almost every at bat. But your point still stands, and we pretty much all knew from the start that Simmons was a terrible signing. How much of that blame belongs on Ross though? He doesn't have much to work with.

yeah but it comes while the Cubs are the 2nd most screwed over teams in baseball this year with regards to balls and strikes. Can't seem to get any breaks. But yeah Nico should have swung at it.

The Cubs seem to watch more pitches than anyone, probably plays a role in that

I agree the umps hate the cubs. Every call goes against us. If you had robot umpires we probably be in first place

Worst home winning % in baseball:

Athletics .280

Cubs .292

Nationals .333

Royals .348

the A's are very similar to the Cubs. 7-18 at home, 13-13 on the road while the Cubs are 7-17 at home and 12-12 on the road.

Really curious if the Smyly injury makes a Kilian debut happen, or if it makes the 40 man situation that much more complicated, so they have to just throw Espinoza to the wolves for another turn or two through the rotation

I think it's time to start cutting bait with some of these fringy guys and uncomplicate that situation. I'd be fine with Hermosillo, Leiter and Norris getting sent Packing to make room for guys with an actual future.

The prospects have to be ready. I get the Cubs aren't playing competitive baseball but let your young players develop and call them up when they're ready.

Kinda funny...the Cubs are 4-13 in one run games. While talent and ability play a part in it, it can also be kind of flukey. Imagine if they were 13-4 in one run games...they'd be in the thick of the race. We're also to the part of the season where (i think) pythag record has some validity to it. The Cubs are -8 in RD for the season. Are they really a .500 team that's underachieved?

By no means am I saying they are good, and really I hate this stupid team, but somewhat interesting to think about

Also consider if they didn’t have a 1943 Eastern Front attrition rate. As I posted in another thread, I believe we have 12 of our 2022 projected 25 man roster currently on the IL.

Yeah, the relief guys we can probably push, and Morel has shown enough that he'll have to really nosedive for me to be okay with him going back down, but elsewhere it's less black and white.

Also, there are *so many* injuries right now, they might have to just play 40 man games for another week or three. I'd love to get Kilian up ASAP for example, but if we have to e.g. lose Espinoza just to get Kilian one or two more MLB starts this year, that's not worth it. Teams are rarely so up against the wall like that, but I'd buy that the Cubs are at the moment. Things should chill starting with the off day Monday.
