Dillon Peters was probably gonna only pitch 2-3 innings anyway (instead of 2/3). But the Cubs ambush him for 4 hits, a Bb, 4 runs (so far), and he hits the showers.

Grand Slam just now by Willy and it’s 8 zip!!!!!

Can't wait for them to score more runs today than the rest of the week

Is it me or is Simmons short-arming all his throws from short? They've all been routine plays so maybe that's his accuracy motion, but given his slow-healing injury was shoulder soreness, maybe not a great sign.

Yeah it looks like he’s still hurting

Most definitely. Noticed it last night on the final play and it certainly looks that was tonight.

Maybe they decided Vargas was so bad out there that they're willing to risk Simmons while Nico is out.

Late in the game, maybe the 7th, he fielded one somewhat dep at SS and fired a laser to first base. Wonder if the arm is there, but he's holding back when he can. Sort of preserving it until he's in better game shape armm-wise.

After last night Rucker's numbers are pretty solid. He hasn't really pitched in high leverage situations at all, but if he is indeed a solid reliever, then the bullpen is now about seven deep:

Robertson

Wick

Givens

Martin

Effross

Norris (also seems to be rounding into good form)

Rucker

And I think we're about to be point where some of the Iowa guys are looking closer to ready (Hughes and Leeper first up).

With Steele showing some length recently and Stroman presumably not too far from returning to the rotation, you can add Thompson to this list soon too.

Anyone happen to have Pat Hughes call of Contreras’ grand slam?

Deep fly ball... This one's got a chance... Home run number 100 and a grand slam for Contreras!
