i love the stuff about tempo

for anyone worried that this quick 3-step stuff means no deep passing, cousins threw the 5th most attempts of 20+ yards, 10th most of 30+ yards, and 7th most of 40+ yards in 2021

Huh.

I can get that Daboll would decide to cede play calling. I like that Eberflus did it on D side after all.

But that he's hiring outside of not just his immediate circle, but even outside of his "family" of the E-P system is weird. Is Kafka going to pick up E-P language or is Daboll going to have his OC install WC language? Schematically I don't know if it's necessarily an issue, but still odd from a knowledge transfer standpoint.

Edit - only posting here since I know Daboll was such a popular name specifically for the desire to bring his O with.

Yet there's Bears fans out there that still defend Pace. Makes no sense.

He only had 7 years. You have to give him a chance, man

To quote Will Farrell...

"No one knows what it means but it's provocative, gets the people going".

I'm getting optimistic off the fluff only to be disappointed.

I can't believe the 49ers fired TE coach Jon Embree. But... Comes from the Shanahan tree with the ability to develop TEs?

Can he bring Kittle with him?

In other coaching news, Jacksonville is hiring Doug Pederson.

That hopefully frees up Bissaccia to join Eberflus's staff as ST Coordinator, as rumored before.

Looks like Richard has gotten a few DC looks. Also possible he could just stay in NO and maybe even get a promotion depending on what they do.

But if he doesn't get one of the DC jobs and he gets let go from NO, absolutely.

“For better or for worse, it was something I wanted to explore. I went in thinking, ‘I’m gonna have 100 percent conviction on this, and if they (Minnesota) have 100 percent conviction on this, then it’s something I’m gonna do.”

But like many a job interview, somewhere in the process, he got a sinking feeling. It was all good. “A first-class operation,” he said. “First-class people.” But there wasn’t an equal match of enthusiasm. And for a man whose catch phrase is “an enthusiasm unknown to mankind” — well, that stuff matters.

Perhaps he expected too much. Given his previous NFL success (49-22-1 including playoffs, a Super Bowl appearance) and the fact that the new Minnesota GM, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, was a friend, perhaps he thought this was to be more a coronation than an interview.

But it wasn’t. And while Harbaugh, out of respect, didn’t want to reveal details, sources say no job was offered.

Rumors I was hearing is that Harbaugh wanted a Gruden type contract.

Sounds that way. Maybe that's the source of the mismatch of enthusiasm.

Aka enthusiasm.

Also he went in expecting to be offered the job and wasn't prepared to actually have to really interview.

I can't tell if this is legit reporting yet but there are people reporting that Matt Nagy may be hired as the OC of the Lions.

The Irish Bears podcast is where it originated. They are tight with our friend DBB and have him on the show a lot. They could just be trolling because it seems too ridiculous to be true.

Knew it was too good to be true haha

Considering their history long issues with offense it's kind of funny that of the 6 coaches hired so far, the Bears are the only one that has picked someone with a defensive background. I'm not saying it's the wrong pick or that the Bears haven't balanced that with what appears to be a pretty strong offensive staff, just a funny observation.

Well with everyone else chasing one type just means prob most will be back in the carousel in a few years. Good chance the Bears will too obviously, but hopefully the first choice of a D guy is better than the 6th best O guy.

plus, Eberflus will likely be the D guy, and rightfully so. He might be all they need. A staff full of O guys is beneficial if they start to get poached due to success. Lets hope for that
