Our new GM watched the Broncos to steal the Packers off coordinator and now has stolen GBs next in line; their qb coach? And in reality, it all makes sense from a relationship aspect?

horsefeathering assassin. I love Poles already

A GM who’s never picked players or negotiated contracts before, a head coach who’s never been in charge before, and an offensive coordinator who’s never called plays in the NFL before. Hope this works!

If Getsy is the OC, I'm hoping Vikings QB coach Andrew Janocko (who has worked with Getsy) becomes the QB coach.

It’s pretty much give someone a chance to show what they can do or hire someone who’s already had one and failed. If you’re successful in those positions you likely aren’t leaving for a lateral move.

The Vikings are interviewing Harbaugh. Don’t know why the Bears didn’t interview him. At least find out what he has to say.

The Bears spoke to Harbaugh and he wanted $100M and they balked.

And I don't blame them lol

Yeah, I'm not concerned about the lack of experience.

3 of the Final 4 teams:

SF- Hired Shanahan who had never been a HC before, HE hired a GM who had literally 0 NFL front office experience, and hired a DC who had never called plays (Saleh). They didn't have an OC right away, but obviously Shanahan called plays and had experience there.

LAR- Had a GM on the job for 5 years, but had 5 of 5 losing seasons. Hired a 1st time HC, and OC but an experienced DC (Wade Phillips). This was basically the same situation as the Bears when Pace hired Nagy

CIN- Their owner is the GM. Hired a 1st time HC, with only 1 year of coordinator experience, who brought in a 1st time OC and DC.

I'm not worried, although interestingly I saw on Twitter someone ask the question and I had to look it up.

Has a first time GM hired a first time HC and that pair eventually won a Super Bowl.

I could only find one example. Not saying it's predictive, but kind of an interesting stat.

Me neither, along with this whole HC must be someone with an offensive background. Yes, I to would have felt better about a HC with an offensive background. Bottom line is if Fields truly has the goods and the OC has a system/play calls/game plan that aren't the total brain fart that Nagy' was, he'll succeed and so will the Bears.

I was more concerned about the Bears continuing to lack in scouting and analytics than experience.

If you can get Biscassia for ST and maybe Marinelli for the D-Line, you'll have experience.

Was that reported anywhere? $100 mil is the going rate for stud coaches. If the Bears would have hired Harbaugh for less money, they should get out of ownership. You just can’t suck for as long as they have without hitting a home run.

Maybe not, but money can’t be the reason he wasn’t interviewed

Thompson technically inherited Sherman for a year, but I guess you could asterick that one. But I didn't count other first time GMs who may have inherited a coach and eventually hired another on their first own hire.

Why interview a $1K hooker if all you have in your pocket is $60?

Because the Bears have plenty of money. If you have a few billion to build a new stadium, you have enough to pay a coach.

It could be Poles had his guy and didn't feel the need to interview rather than being cheap.
