Like that he spent 5 years in Ravens org and then Philly. Two winning orgs, one in Baltimore I'm particularly fond of. Another former lineman (Virginia).

I dont think of Philly as a winning org. They had a fluke super bowl run and not a whole lot more.

Fluke is probably wrong word but it was a one off great season bookended by mediocrity.

Yes, but I do fully promote describing them as having more success then GB in the last 10 years. It really pisses GB fans off

I'll make a random and incorrect guess ... Shane Day will become new OC (former Bears QB coach who coached Jay) and Chandler Whitmer will be the QB coach who coached Fields at OSU.

There's a lot to pick apart with this "analysis" but at least thought it was interested to look at recent similar situations. PS you'll need to click on the tweet to see the full picture which shows their best offensive season after the hire. Flores was the only one that was able to significantly improve on that side of the ball.

Yeah I don't think this means anything. I'm not going to go through every roster but I believe this year's Dolphins we're the only one of those teams that had decent personnel on the offensive side of the ball? (And to be fair, they did underperform which would help make the point)

His reasons for excluding Staley and McDermott were shaky, likely because they undermine this narrative.

First thing I thought of was McDermott. Dude is terrible.

Don't know how much of this is Stephen A. Smith fucked up logic however, he's suggesting the Broncos hired Hackett to increase their chances of acquiring Aaron Rodgers? While Rodgers has spoke glowingly of Hackett he's replaceable, the Packers will bend over backwards, prop the primadonna horsefeathers up on a pedestal and venerate at his feet along with doing whatever else is necessary to keep him a Packer. I say good, I want that horsefeathers to remain a Packer when the Bears start beating them.

As a "nice bonus" type reason for hiring him, maybe that makes a little sense to me. But I'd hope they still believe he's a great HC candidate, completely separate from whether or not Rodgers comes.

I fully expect GB to polish Rodgers' turds to keep him. They know Love is a bust.

That idea is all over the place (Rodgers going to Broncos). Multiple outlets are suggesting it, but mostly because of Rodgers BS "woo is me" act. The logic goes somehow the Packers haven't supports him and therefore he's unhappy and the most likely place is the team that just hired his favorite coach. But I don't see the Broncos has having more talent the GB by any means. Do they have anyone better then Adams? Is Gordon a better RB then Jones? The o-line?

I could care less. If he's traded, great bring on Love. But my gut is he won't be.

Shane Day makes a LOT of sense. Forgot about him in my list yesterday of Shanahan tree candidates. Does have a little playcalling experience. Called games for 3 games at UConn a few years ago and it was the best 3-game offensive stretch in school history.

Why did he go from 49ers QB coach to Chargers QB coach? Lateral move on the surface? Was he passed over for OC when McDaniel took the job?

You gotta remember the Broncos and Packers had talks last offseason. The Broncos already have a package together that the Packers would accept for Rodgers (per Ben Allbright). I think if Rodgers wanted to leave last year, he'd probably be in Denver already. I think they 100% are trying to lure Rodgers and get him to hop on the other side of that fence he was supposedly on all last offseason. I honestly think it's more likely to happen than not at this point. Green Bay just doesn't have the money. They'd have to cut several players, restructure Rodgers and Bahktiari among others, just to bring Adams back. And they still couldn't afford to replace anyone they cut and all their other WRs are FAs except Amari Rodgers, who Packers fans think should have been cut this year, the same year he was drafted.

I'm guessing it was a McVay recommendation. Obviously Staley was McVay's DC. Day doesn't really have any ties to Chargers OC, Lombardi. But Day has worked more closely with McVay than he did with Shanahan. Day/Shanahan didn't overlap at Washington, while Day/McVay did. I think for Day being #2 offensively in LA was more beneficial than being #3 in SF.

Chandler Whitmer, now that’s a name a I haven’t heard for a while and certainly didn’t except to hear now. Started his college career at Illinois.

I get the nostalgia factor but they aren't seriously thinking of Marinelli as the DC right? He's well into his 70s now, coaching the Vegas DLine. If he wants to keep working, I think a D Line role is appropriate, but I'm not sure we want a guy like that in the DC position.

I'm apprehensive about poaching any offensive coach from GB, in the regular season, at least, Rodgers is good enough to inflate everyone around him coaches, players, etc. Adams may be the real deal but, guys like Jones, Tonyan are all a product of having a future HOFer as their QB.

Kaplan reporting that Poles is interviewing Pep Hamilton for OC. Doesn't say Poles and Eberflus. Is Eberflus deferring to Poles on the offensive staff? Or is that Eberflus' preferred candidate and just getting Poles "approval"?

Not being reported as DC. Hopefully that means Flus is keeping DC for a bigger fish.

His brother, Mike, is KC's football operations guy. He's had a few GM interviews in the past I believe. So has ties to obviously both Eberflus and Poles.

Yea I saw that. Very interesting.

Man, I'd love any of the names I'm hearing for OC, except that Philly dude. Getsy or Pep would be cool with me.

I've seen some arguments for the Philly guy. A lot of tape watchers saying their WR are being schemed open well and any issues are more about Hurts accuracy, but they felt he maximizes passing scheme.
