Dan Quinn getting a second interview is terrible. McCaskey and Polian are clueless to think he’s head coaching material again.

He's interviewed or was requested for every opening. He had 2nd interviews with multiple teams. It's not just McCaskey and Polian. The NFL loves to recycle mediocre white coaches.

Tons of people saying Quinn would be expected to bring in a killer staff :dontknow:

If he can bring in a great staff I'm open to it. Hopefully he's learned from ATL (which sound weird since he made a SB and all, but his run didn't end well there)

Also Minn is supposedly high on Poles and Denver on Quinn. If they landed a Poles/Quinn pairing that would be very nice that they landed guys away from those spots, IMO.

no this is wrong. we WANT minnesota to hire quinn

please god please

(whatever, I'll be extremely surprised, bewildered albeit exuberant if Quinn came to Chicago and it was the right choice...but I'll live)

George probably picked him up in his 97 Honda Civic and parked in economy lot

100% parked in the economy lot. No question

Parking in economy lot would be foolish overspending. It's economy for full day parking, if you're just picking somebody up you go hourly and pay a fraction of the economy rate. What's more likely is he stayed in the cell phone waiting area until he knew Poles was off the plane with bags in hand then he went to the main garage to guarantee he'd be in there less than one hour.

Dan Quinn's killer staffs in Atlanta led to 4-9 start in 2018, a 1-7 start in 2019, and an 0-5 start in 2020 before he was finally canned.

How the hell is this guy getting a job after 1 year off? Atlanta fans rightfully despised him and they've taken a step up this year with a worse roster.

Quinn's a hard pass for me, thus far, I've got Harbaugh, Quinn and Frazier as hard passes, my top three, in no particular order - Daboll, Flores, Leftwich - just please no re-treads with defensive backgrounds.

Good points, I do the cell lot for my pickups and before that would just wait at the McDonalds Ohare oasis before they tore it down.

My two generic archetypes of preferred coaching candidates are offensive wunderkind (Sean Payton/McVay) and highly respected retread who bombed in his first gig (Pete Carrol, Bill Belichik). Although they didn't bomb, Andy Reid and Tony Dungy also fit this type. Quinn obviously fits the latter, but I'm not enthusiastic. There's really nothing wrong with re-treads defensive coaches, if they can get a good staff together. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt to start. Same with Flores.

Harbaugh is more like a Reid and Dungy, who had success but not enough success. I'd be fine with him. Daboll and Leftwich are more exciting shoot the moon candidates and I'd be happy with either.

I would think a gopher person or a black car would pick Poles up, not the person who is essentially the owner of the team. I wonder if this is an overture to make Ryan feel like he's their guy.

To be fair, the killer staff was mostly gone in Atlanta by 2018. As for Quinn himself, he's not quite as hard a pass as Frazier. Harbaugh was originally lower than everyone but Frazier, but now I'm like whatever, he'll win games. Fields may be more Kaepernick than his full potential but they'll win. I buy that Quinn is a well liked guy and could build a great staff. I'd be skeptical until I see said staff, but no problem with him if he does. I've kinda learned to not really care about actual in-game coaching too much. Obviously things like playcalling matter, somewhat and challenges, timeouts and so forth. But this is a talent driven league. Zac Taylor, Kingsbury, and a few others aren't really good coaches, but they have good/great QBs and fantastic weapons and they win. Get the talent, develop the talent. If Quinn can build the staff that can do that, he's fine with me.

Well, Quinn did have a couple good seasons out of 6, making the Super Bowl in one of them and following it up with another playoff team that got out of the first round. It ended badly though.

I don't know, not all that excited but he's still young (51) and has that Super Bowl as a HC. I can see why he's being looked at. Pederson too. I'd prefer either over Frazier, although that's not saying much.

I think its just the way McCaskey runs the entire team; its a family business so he personally picks Poles up. It can be seen as rubish but honestly I really dont mind Geo doing it. Welcome to Chicago, Ryan

I have a hard time imagining he's picked up each one of these guys, considering some were same day. I assumed a lot of these were zoom interviews, at least for the first round, and that in person things were for the 2nd round.
