With the sheer number of minority candidates the Bears brought in, I'd be kinda disappointed if they end up with Dodds and Daboll (2 white guys), even though Dodds is my top GM choice and Daboll is the hot candidate. Daboll has been linked to the Bears all season (by Ben Allbright) and Dodds is considered the star GM candidate. But hiring both seems kind of predetermined and makes the whole process look like it was for show.

Elliott is a UM Alum

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah (w/ Niners) and Ed Dodds (w/ Raiders) have worked in the same organization as Harbaugh in the past. Jeff Ireland also a match. They parted ways with Mike Mayock earlier today.......which you know because you posted it in the other thread.

Is there any indication that Frazier would be able to bring in a solid OC? If he’s really a top candidate then it comes down to whether he can secure the other side of the ball.

I mean, yeah I would rather not have a defense first HC but it’s possible for a DC to succeed @ HC, and even have a solid offense.

Just look at Sean McDermott. He comes from a purely defensive background but wound up with a successful QB who needed development, and an OC who is at the top of everyone’s list.

I’ll bet there were Bills fans who weren’t thrilled with the hire because he didn’t come from an offensive background.

I know organizations are complex and we can't just ascribe an org's actions to every employee, but I do not love the Titans as an org to poach from. They've done some savvy things the last few years, but seems like most of their success comes from playing in a dumpster fire of a division. And unlike, say, the Browns it doesn't seem to me like they've had a great process and just lost some key dice rolls.

Well it's definitely a deeply Patriots influenced org.

Their 2016 draft produced 3 All Pros, though the let Conklin walk (Belichick has never been big on huge OL paydays either). They look like they have been pretty draft focused though the Goff blockbuster certainly helped in filling the coffers there. And yea, just looking at their staffing don't appear to be analytically driven.

Guessing he'd bring over Ken Dorsey but if Daboll leaves Buffalo too, Dorsey might just be promoted there

Yeah, there's really nothing that points to Frazier being a "top" candidate. Just someone they really want to give an interview to.

Yea I'd put good money on not being able to double dip from a franchise like that. They're likely to be immediately offered a promotion at their current franchise. And while the Bears should be an attractive landing spot for HC, why would and OC like Dorsey leave an appealing situation in BUF with Allen already established.

He's done an admirable job, but I'd still prefer Daboll, and, I've come full circle on Desai. What would the chances be that a Daboll head coach/Desai DC could work? The bears ended up 6th in total yards on D.

Me to, if going to error, error on the side of offense, it's all about offense, offense in today's NFL. Daboll is the young, hot candidate with far more evidence of success than Nagy. So, hopefully, the McCaskey' aren't gun shy.

Leftwich is now on the docket

I know having success with super stars is scaring some off Leftwich but, I think there's a stronger case him. Far stronger than say, Hackett, who should be a hard, hard pass, outside of his work with Rodgers there's nothing like what Leftwich did with Winston.

Bears Twitter freaking out about being beat the punch by the Giants?

Edit

Seeing stuff like this. Is anything actually changing or just fans freaking out because Giants are moving to finalist stage?

Pretty sure he means the latter. To me it reads as a response to what people are saying in his mentions and around Bears Twitter.

I haven't seen much discussion about Hackett other than that the Bears have requested an interview with him. What are the general thoughts on him? Too green/hard to differentiate his success with LaFleur's?

Also I didnt see this posted, but this may be the reason the Bears would be accelerating the process as the Giants are also high on Flores

this scares me. was it Watson who wanted to hitch his ride to Flores or was it mutual? I dont want another HC who wants nothing to to with our young, in-house QB

The Bears aren't speeding up their process.

He's responding to a bunch of angry fans saying the Bears better hurry up because the Giants have their finalists.

Can someone explain the excitement over Flores? I don't know much about him (don't watch a ton of Fins football) but I see a coach who didn't do all that well in 3 seasons. Those 0-7, 1-7 starts concern me, for sure.
