If they just start taking knees both teams are in right?

Correct, three kneels here with no timeouts and both teams make the playoffs, Chargers as the 6 seed (would play the Bills), Raiders as the 7 seed (would play the Chiefs).

 

If the Raiders win, they get the 5 seed and would play the Bengals. That's basically the only difference a win makes. Oh, and the Steelers would make the playoffs, which nobody wants.

Wasn’t there only 2 seconds on the play clock? It makes sense to set your defense since the raiders could have been playing for the win.

Honestly that was so lame. People will praise the Raiders for having integrity and playing for the win but let’s be honest, they made decisions that decreased their chances of making the playoffs. Should have never attempted a kick.

Whats the risk of losing the playoffs against the gain of playing Cincy over KC.

Damn you just changed my view, good call. Once the raiders got into LAC territory with 3 mins left, it was pretty low risk. If the chargers get the ball back they are likely running out the clock. The only danger is a pick 6 or a blocked kick returned for a TD.

 

I’m just salty because that would have been such an amazing story to see that game end as a tie.

Yeah, that's a big difference to me. Raiders are in a virtual no lose situation there. I suppose they could have had the kick blocked and returned for a TD, but how many times does that happen during the year? If they're locked in to playing one team with a win or a tie, they might just let the clock run out.
