nba.com has bulls #2 in their most recent power rankings

Chicago Bulls

Record: 9-4

Pace: 99.3 (15) OffRtg: 108.4 (13) DefRtg: 103.4 (5) NetRtg: +5.0 (6)

The Bulls’ loss at Golden State on Friday was their first that wasn’t within five points in the last five minutes. They were playing without Nikola Vucevic (health and safety protocols) for the first time, they got blitzed in the third quarter by the best third-quarter team in the league, and they got no offense beyond that of DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine. But the good outweighed the bad in a 3-1 week, with a big win over Brooklyn and road victory over the Clippers being the highlights.

DeRozan has taken 19 more mid-range shots than any other player in the league, but both he and LaVine attacked Blake Griffin early and often in the pick-and-roll on Monday, scoring 25 of their 52 points in the restricted area (14) or at the free throw line. Though there’s been some improvement in the last few games, the offense hasn’t been great (104.6 points scored per 100 possessions) with both scorers on the floor. It’s actually been at its best (114.5 per 100) with LaVine off the floor and DeRozan carrying a usage rate of 36%.

With Vucevic out and Tony Bradley totaling just 37 minutes in his two starts, the Bulls have been forced into some small ball. So games against Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic this week could provide a challenge for a defense that hasn’t been great in regard to protecting the rim.

Week 5: @ LAL, @ POR, @ DEN, vs. NYK

I know there's still 70 games to play but DeMar is shooting 3s at a rate not seen in 5 years and hitting them at a career high clip by a significant margin. Definitely an exciting development to follow. It's always been odd to me that somebody with such a silky jumper has never been an average 3 shooter.

I wish Billy would give Marko a few minutes. This one is over, get him some run.

He wasn't listed in the boxscore, only DNP was Tyler Cook. So, IDK if Marko was the move to get Coby on the active roster

It rules that the Bulls basically threw Lonzo, Carushow and some DJJ at Athony Davis and he was so flustered he got tossed from the game. What a punk; I know a few people from Chicago who are Packers fans and they are punks just like him. It's one thing if you're from Zion or Southern Illinois but you can't be from Chicago and root for the Packers.

Glad the Bulls took it to him. What a fun team this is.

If the Bulls win the title this year, the Lakers should get a championship ring. Decided on Horton-Tucker over Caruso and Westbrook over DeRozan. Both came to the Bulls and completely changed the trajectory of the franchise

TBF THT is pretty good. I think he had 28 last night.

Westbrick though not so much. The guys they traded to DC for him are doing pretty well too.

I don’t know if they’ll be able to unload him at some point but he’s just not a winning player I don’t see him really helping them in may or June.

The warriors and suns seem like much better bets to win the west imo.

Yeah the Westbrook trade was terrible. They gave up multiple role players from their title team who instantly made Washington a good team. And like you said, his contract makes him very hard to trade, though ironically he’s been traded twice already with his current contract but at some point he’s going to run out of teams willing to take a chance that they can turn him into a team player.

Honestly, DeRozan seemed like a much better fit for their roster especially with LeBron breaking down

This team is so boring. Same crap every night. Hit a bunch of ridiculous shots, play stifling defense, destroy the will of the team by the end of the 3rd quarter. Yawn
