Now that Premium access is restricted, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of features that have been added to the Premium UI so that people could see what they get for their (paltry :) ) $5/month. As I continue to add things that are Premium-only, I'll keep this list updated. If I'm forgetting anything, please PM me with what I've left out. So, without further ado (and in no particular order), here it is:

  • [*]Double the signature length! (max 512 characters instead of 255)

[*]Twice the Private message storage

[*]The freedom to choose a custom rank

[*]The ability to upload your own avatars

[*]The ability to change your name

[*]The ability to control if you want to see sigs, avatars, images

[*]Happy Birthday greetings

make my rank "town drunk"?

and ya only got a few days to get my birthday greetings in the mail  seriously :P

After watching the site go down again yesterday, I finally mustered up the cash (it was a nice payday for me!) and made the donation to become a Premium Member. Thanks for maintaing the site and server Tim!

Okay how exactly do I go about signing up? I don't want to use pay pal.

You can send him a check - see the NSBB.com front page.

When I pay the $50 how do I let Tim know to upgrade my account to premium? Is there somewhere to enter my username when I do it, or do I need to send him a seperate email or something?

You can just PM him here. If you pay by paypal, there's a Notes section where you can also enter your username.

If you use paypal and don't use the notes section, I'll look up the email address paypal sends me in the database to find a match. If I don't find one there, I'll send an email to the paypal address to get the username.

With checks, I'm pretty much at the mercy of you including your username when you send the check!

Hey Tim, make premium payable by CC. It's the only thing stopping me from joining. I keep a paperless house as much as possible, so writing a check is an inconvenience. Paypal -- I had an account once and got Phished like crazy; somehow someone found out I was a paypal subscriber and was trying to get me to give away my account info, so I had to cancel out.

I must admit I'd be more prone to signing up this way as well.

When I looked into this a few years ago, it cost a fairly significant amount to register as a vendor in order to accept credit cards. I'll check into whether or not that price has come down. I'd certainly be happy to get away from paypal and the fees they take out.

paypal can handle credit cards. Check out "Website Payments Standard":

They just take out the % as a paypal donation.

What's the deal with post counts and locations not showing for some members?

I've wondered about that too. Some posters have nothing but their username displayed, and there's no info in their profile either.

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya !!

the people who hide their status don't have their info show in the premium interface. Since the regular interface isn't as sophisticated, it still shows there.

Is there anyway Premium users can get an archive of posts back in like 2003. It would be interesting to see some of the opinions during that 2003 playoff run. I know this board wasn't as big then but it is still interesting to look back on those posts.

I have those archived off, but not available at this time.

They are an enjoyable read. You also get to look into the mind of a 15 year old CT, which is always fun.

So if I want to change my screen name, is there a way to do it myself or do I PM a mod like I did before?

you always have to PM a mod to do it

After a few hours of continuous browsing, I think my favorite thing about premium so far is the increased number of threads and posts displayed. The power to ignore is nice, but I'm not really inspired to use it yet, and I like my avatar and sig, so I don't know if I will continue to block those from loading.

Oh, and I also like this guy :pukel:
