Good, no offense to Schwindel or Fargas but they're just guys who were on the roster in a pinch. I'd rather call Deichmann and Rivas up and see what we have for next year.

It is a marginal step forward, but, man, I am not ready to get excited about a 26 year old making his debut.

While his age might limit him given he's in his peak years w/out being in the majors year, it's more of his inability to put together the combo of hitting with power with the increased contact levels.

He projects as a 4th Of'er that might be a starter on a bad club but that's as good If not better than anything they got close to the majors (obviously Davis is excluded).

MLB.com and Fangraphs have him at #20 in our system, and BA has him at #11. So thankfully this is a matter of him being first up rather than him being the best we can muster. Because yeah Deichman's best case scenario is probably something like Cubs era Chris Coghlan?

I think there are trajectories that, while they might be sub-optimal for maximizing team control through a player's peak years, still result in a solid major league baseball player. Deichmann was the 43rd overall pick in 2017. He was in high A in 2018, AA in 2019 and AAA this year, improving at every level. I think we've become so obsessed with phenoms like Acuna and Tatis that we undervalue the potential for guys like this to keep improving if given PAs.

BTW, Brian Dopirak is now a charter boat captain in Dunedin FL. If you can't be an MLB player that is about the next coolest job to have.

Heyward activated, Deichmann sent down

Rossy taking care of his buddies

With the offense struggling, you gotta go with the better hitter (.198 vs .174)
