Cubs actually got the call this time

Also the Cubs are up 3-0. The team can suck but beating up on the Cardinals is always fun.

How did we get so lucky without KB getting injured in 2015/16? The man is made of glass.

For as soft as he is,he’s the best they got.

Gotta admit, as shitty of a situation as this Cubs team is in, it almost makes it that much sweeter to blast the Cardinals. If only they could follow up 1-12 stretch by sweeping these jerkoffs.

2017 the Cubs were 43-45 and several games behind the Brewers in the Central, the added at the deadline and finished 92-70 and won the division

2021 the Cubs are 43-45 and several games behind the Brewers in the Central.

(I am absolutely not advocating being a buyer, its just funny to compare similar situations that are going to be handled in different ways most likely)

Doesn’t context matter though? That 2017 team had just won the WS and still felt like they could go on a run. This team has regressed ever since then, doesn’t hit well or pitch well. (or apparently defend well either).

Could Patrick Wisdom actually be good, or is this still residual pixie dust?

He seems like he’ll settle into yet another .240 hitter with 25 HR and a crap ton of K’s

Yeah of course context matters a ton, thats kind of what I was trying to say in parenthesis

4 games further back of Milwaukee this year than in 2017. Q trade not technically at the deadline (July 13) and by the time the deadline came around (when they traded for Avila and Justin Wilson), they’d erased the whole deficit and were 2.5 up. Of course, that’s a point in your favor since they made up 8 games between July 15 and July 30.

Good might be strong, but I'm starting to think he's a legit 2nd division starter type. Something like .230/.310/.450 with good defense at 3B? The fact that he's getting hot again after going cold for a few weeks says a lot. The hallmark of a AAAA guy is being unable to make adjustments.

Oh, I know. I was mostly being rhetorical. It’s pretty amazing that nearly the same situation a few years ago feels completely hopeless now.

He makes Bote trade bait.

Cubs win, Brewers lose and we’re only 8.5 back. Another week and a half of this and we’ll be in first!

If we just win all our remaining games against the Brewers we’re right there pretty much
