5/19 Cubs (Arrieta) vs Nationals (Scherzer) 6:30

Max Scherzer is an all-time great and yet this will always come to mind when I think of him.

It's always hilarious to me how the Cubs managed to score 9 runs in that game in this way:

 

1: Groundout

2: Groundout

3: Wild Pitch

4-5: Double down the line

6: Dropped 3rd Strike/error

7: HBP

8: a "double" which was really a misplay by Werth that allowed a ball to go under his glove and by him

9: Groundout

 

1 legitimate RBI hit in the game and it was just barely enough to win a must win game.

Any idea why all these night games are starting at 6:30 in this series?

 

I thought maybe the Cubs decided to make their night games start at 6:30 for the season but looking at their upcoming home games they go back to 7:15 after this series for the most part.

 

Also when looking at up i noticed that after this series 34 of the Cubs next 55 games are on the road. 34 road, 21 home. Seems rough

Prior to this season, Bote's worst xwOBA is .319

 

They're not very far apart this year when looking at expected results (.364 - .343). On average across their careers, Bote has been a better hitter.

That said, Duffy does seem like a better matchup against Scherzer.

I think with Scherzer you're not stringing anything together, you just shrug your shoulders and hope you luck into a timely dong or two. That's at least why I would consider Bote over Duffy.
