Who knows what the hell this is going to end up being, but as long as there's a season I'll post the threads. A bunch of players on Auburn tested positive for COVID. The infection rates on college campuses here in Alabama are huge but the state is fudging the numbers so we don't really know how bad it is.

There are unconfirmed reports of over 1,000 cases at the University of Alabama.

Bama gunning for on-campus herd immunity before the first game on Sept. 26, bold strategy

The Pac-12 has a deal with a company called Quidel to provide rapid-response COVID tests and are hopeful this means they can return to sports action before Jan. 1.

Anecdotally, it sort of feels like things like this are why the B1G and Pac-12 should've postponed a few weeks like the SEC did. If we've learned anything in 2020, it's that things can change on a dime.

SMU vs TCU, scheduled for next Friday, has been postponed because of positive COVID tests in the TCU program.

With the absence of bowl games and shortened season, might this be a year we see an expanded playoff? 8 teams perhaps?

I would say it's insane to consider since the season has technically started already but I guess that didn't stop MLB. I don't think it's happening this year, though.

Good stuff from Wright Thompson, as usual.

And he is so right about Tiger Stadium. It’s unlike anything you’ll ever experience. Sidenote: I was there the night the Cubs won the NLCS. It was pretty cool when there was a spontaneous singing of Go Cubs Go from the people following on their phones. I even saw a few people with W flags. Took this pic of these folks behind me.

You went to watch a bad Mississippi team instead of watching the Cubs win the NL?

Not sure where that falls on the David at Kanye concert scale

My wife and I have been to every Ole Miss game in Baton Rogue since we got together 12 years ago. It’s just something we do. She’s a bigger Ole Miss fan than I am actually. I value my life more than the Cubs. Had it been a Game 7 I likely would have risked it. As it was, I was that dork at a game with the radio headset on, so I got to hear Pat make the call.

Well...the Kanye thing has aged particularly badly.

True, but then you leave the stadium and you realize that you’re in Baton Rouge. Craptastic town.

Tulsa vs Oklahoma State postponed a week because Tulsa had a COVID-related practice disruption.

Guess we can get used to this.

Pre-med major Brian Jones at State University strikes again.

Louisiana Tech gets COVID and their game with Baylor this Saturday is postponed.

The goobers here who are frothing at the mouth about no Ohio State football refuse to be convinced that this exact same thing will happen after one week of Big Ten football.

I'm jealous that the loss of some football games is the worst thing that has ever happened in these peoples' lives

You’re aware that the Big Ten schools are still practicing football literally the same amount of hours as conferences that are playing, right? So unless you think it’s the actual games that are spreading Covid on these teams, then your point about “after one week” is invalid.

I've lived in Iowa City for years but live in Ames now, so I cheer both Iowa teams.

My question to anyone who might be catching the ESPN broadcast, does Golic seem way less annoying? He seems way less shitty. I just assumed when I saw that he would be calling the game it to be awful. Maybe he still sucks. Was curious what others thought.

Yeah never mind. Golic is still bad at his job.

Major rumblings from CFB reporters that the B1G is moving in the direction of restarting fall sports. Could start games by October 17.
