So yesterday I had a client on the line. My company recently issued a product recall and we’re buying back everything we sold and also providing a voucher for a future order. The client was being incredibly difficult, refusing to provide an order number or even an e-mail address so I could verify he’d ever ordered with us to begin with. Just kept asking for his voucher. And he was kind of a dick.

In a pique of frustration I turned to a co-worker and told her exactly what I thought about my caller in no uncertain terms. Except for the first time in my long career I forgot to hit the mute button.

There’s a chance I may be unemployed soon so I’m gonna need the Cubs to be good for a while.

Win, jerks.

For people who don't think they use SSS splits to make the line up. Heyward 1-for-13 vs Gray, Almora 3-for-7 with a HR.

If Russell was on the roster he would be at 2nd or SS with his 3-for-8 and 2 HR

Everyone knows teams do that. It's widely considered to be dumb and meaningless when you're talking about things like a dozen AB or less. It's old timey meatball horsefeathers.

Batting 1st in order: .237/.250/.322

1st batter of the game: .154/.154/.154

But he didn't tell Maddon he's uncomfortable leading off, so it's fine

Why do all these teams who spend millions on analytics do it if it was totally meaningless? You would think Theo or Jed would say something when they go over things with Joe everyday.

Why does Maddon insist on treating almost any leftie he has in the bullpen as a LOOGY? Why is Almora still getting ANY starts when he has been catastrophically bad for well over an entire calendar year now? These are just things that always happen in baseball. To assume that any decision this FO or management staff is automatically sound is silly. Just the very presence of Almora on the team still at this point shows they don't always make the right choice.

Because a 7 AB sample size is more predictive than a 500+ AB sample size because reasons

I mean, they made the call to move Heyward to the leadoff spot, which is something you seem to think is tantamount to a baseball war crime.

They are grasping at straws trying to fit a round peg in a square hole with Zobrist out, its why 8 other guys have got starts there and why we have a overall OBP of .285 from the spot in the order.

God how thin is our bullpen now?

I feel like Cishek’s not really hurt, this was just Theo’s only way to keep Joe from pitching him every game

See, you're this close to self-aware.

Do you think it would make sense to just move the better hitters up in the lineup so you always have the best 3 guys going 1-2-3? Or do you think their lack of a "real leadoff hitter" is a problem?

Theo and Jed will say something to Joe about it. "Thank you or your services."

Also, they did recently say something about redistributing the at bats so that the better hitters get more chances. That's as close to "stop playing Almora" as you can get without damaging morale.

Give me the xWOBA or some horsefeathers on that play, Edith. You horsefeathering idiot. He’s a miserable fielder. Again missing a ball he goes back on.
