Seriously, why the horsefeathers would anyone think Descalso would possibly do anything there? WHY WOULD YOU TAKE OUT YOUR PITCHER WHO COULD GIVE YOU ANOTHER INNING FOR A GUY WHO IS HITTING LIKE A horsefeathering PITCHER.

...AND THEN FOLLOW THAT UP WITH A PITCHER WHO PITCHES LIKE A horsefeathering HITTER

(did I do that right)

is it just me or has monty been under the radar terrible this season?

Working mostly as a 1-2 inning reliever, he's only had 2 appearances this year where he hasnt allowed a baserunner, and both of those outings he pitched for 0.1 IP.

Fails us again there.

Mike Montgomery sucks and we were always right to hate him (outside of one evening in late 2016)

hes' having a brutal year but he gave us a bunch of great innings the past 2.5 years, so he'll be dear to me forever

i think joe maddon should just be fired for this game. its not his fault, but he's managing it really terribly

Schockingly, the Mets counter with a guy that has great stats. Are they filming porn with the pitching cameras in Arizona? Sure aren't helping our pitchers.

That hit brings Monty's line against lefties this year to: .520/.536/.958/1.494 in 28 PA

Edit: BTW, for his career Monty has a lower OPS allowed against RHB than LHB.

Yeah I mean, that was just a groundball that got through, so hard to be too upset for today. But he's been terrible this year. I wonder if he's just starting to get fed up with his role here on the team. He's made it public he's wanted to be a starter for a couple years now, and really pitched like he deserved a rotation spot somewhere (if not here) for the last couple years. Then Chatwood falls apart, they bring in Hamels, resign Hamels, and then Chatwood takes his long relief job while he's recovering from an injury.

Regardless, he is not, nor has he ever been, a LOOGY, so this approach needs to stop. And Kyle Ryan isn't the answer either.

Right, Monty has a role as a MLB pitcher. What he’s good at isn’t a good fit for us right now and he’s being used poorly. Hopefully a team with a reliever we target values Monty as a starter.
